Richie Sambora, guitarist for Bon Jovi, has gone to rehab for an undisclosed problem, most likely an addiction to bad medicine or being shot through the heart by someone who gives love a bad name a lot – or maybe just for his godawful haircut.

As yet, no reports have been able to identify which rehab facility Richie Sambora is housed in, the reason he's in rehab in the first place, how his treatment will affect the promotion of the new Bon Jovi album in less than a fortnight's time or even the future of Bon Jovi. The latter is a worry for Bon Jovi fans in particular, since the non-activity of Richie Sambora means that the production of new songs about how life is like an open road and I just want to live until I die and how my life is my life and I just want to walk down the open road of my life that is my life until I die will effectively be halved.

That's it, this rehab fad is over. We could understand when the big stars like Mel Gibson and Lindsay Lohan and Britney Spears all ended up in rehab, and we could just about cope when moonboy from Keane and the child from Desperate Housewives went to rehab, but Richie Sambora? From Bon Jovi? If that's not a sign that a trend is finished we don't know what is. People reports:

Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora entered an undisclosed treatment facility on Wednesday, a rep for the band tells PEOPLE exclusively. "Richie Sambora has entered an undisclosed treatment facility in Los Angeles," the rep said in a statement. "He asks that you respect he and his family's privacy at this time." The specific nature of Sambora's problem was not disclosed. 

A lot of reports are pointing to the fact that, by and large, Richie Sambora hasn't had the best of times lately. As if almost dying in a plane crash wasn't bad enough, Richie Sambora has also been involved in one of the most needless confusing love pentagons of all time. So confusing, in fact, that we need a new link-heavy paragraph to explain it fully.

Richie Sambora divorced Heather Locklear last year. Heather Locklear's best friend was Denise Richards, who was simultaneously divorcing Charlie Sheen, possibly because he liked child porn and killing prostitutes, but probably not. Then Heather Locklear fell out with Denise Richards when Denise Richards started seeing Richie Sambora, leaving Heather Locklear to go out with the short blonde man from Just Shoot Me. Then, earlier this year, Richie Sambora and Denise Richards split up giving Denise Richards more time to throw computers at pensioners. 

Whew. Also Richie Sambora's Dad died this year, which is sad. Friends of Richie Sambora say that the culmination of all these events has left him in a bad way and that rehab will be the quickest way to sort him out. And we'd also like to express our wishes that Richie Sambora would stay in rehab for as long as he needs. More than as long as he needs. In fact, we'd be perfectly happy if Richie Sambora stayed in rehab forever, since that'd make it very difficult for Bon Jovi to release another album. And that's fine by us.
