In the last few years Johnny Depp has gone from being a weird-looking small-time actor to the millionaire performer who runs around funny in the huge Pirates Of The Caribbean movies – so news of his seriously ill daughter has really struck a chord.
It was reported that Lily-Rose, the seven-year-old daughter of Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis, had been admitted to hospital nine days ago with a mystery illness so serious that both Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis were maintaining around the clock bedside vigils to be with her. However, the good news is that the condition of Johnny Depp's daughter is now "much better," with doctors confirming that hecklerspray will soon be able to start wisecracking about Johnny Depp again instead of being slightly sombre and uncomfortable-seeming about it all.
The level in which the public has embraced Johnny Depp as a movie megastar is nothing short of unbelievable, especially considering that just six years ago he was doing unconvincing British accents in weird little films about Jack The Ripper. Of course Johnny Depp had his fans before – he was the winner of a Best Autograph-Writing competition once – but Pirates Of The Caribbean turned the general public onto Johnny Depp in a massive way. The last Pirates of The Caribbean film had the highest weekend opening ever and accounted for a quarter of all British DVD sales in the weeks before Christmas. It also earnt Johnny Depp more People's Choice Awards than you can shake a stick at, the right to make a film about a poisoned Russian spy and the idea to make an album of piratey sea-shanties. And people still love Johnny Depp. Weird.
So news that Johnny Depp's daughter Lily-Rose was rushed to hospital in a seriously ill condition last week came as a shock. Apparently Lily-Rose was admitted to hospital while Johnny Depp was in London filming Sweeney Todd, and Depp and his almost-wife Vanessa Paradis had stayed by her bedside constantly since then. Although there has been no official confirmation of the illness, some websites are claiming that Johnny Depp's daughter had pricked herself with a rusty pin which spread infection to her organs. Happily, though, doctors are now seeing an improvement as Metro reports:
Hollywood film star Johnny Depp's daughter is now "much better" after reports she was seriously ill in a UK hospital, a spokesperson for the actor said tonight. Depp's seven-year-old daughter Lily-Rose was rushed to hospital nine days ago as Depp, 43, was filming in Britain according to the Daily Mirror. It said the Pirates Of The Caribbean star and his partner Vanessa Paradis were keeping a round-the-clock vigil on the youngster. But a spokesperson for Depp said tonight in a statement that her condition had improved. "We are happy to report that their daughter is doing much better. The family greatly appreciates the continued support and respect of their privacy," the statement read.
And if that isn't good news enough, Johnny Depp still doesn't want to be in that rubbish-sounding INXS film. Cheers all round!
