Whatever you think about her, there is literally no job that Kelly Osbourne can’t do – in the past Kelly Osbourne has been a failed pop star, a failed actor and a failed TV presenter – and now Kelly’s trying her hand at the world of musical theatre.
It has been announced that Kelly Osbourne is to join the cast of Chicago in London for seven weeks starting in September. Starring in Chicago is something that Kelly Osbourne is talking very seriously – she’s lost most of her bodyweight and given herself a glamorous new look to show her dedication to the undertaking. However, this makeover has apparently riled the Chicago producers, who had written in a special new miserable overweight tuneless character with a wet-sounding speech impediment especially for Kelly Osbourne’s arrival.
Even though the sensible majority of the population would rather impale themselves on a sharp boulder than go to see Chicago, the musical has had its fair share of celebrity stars in the past – Darius off Pop Idol has been in Chicago, as has Les Dennis and Beppe off EastEnders – but now comes the biggest star of them all. Kelly Osbourne, daughter of Ozzy Osbourne and world’s best Mum Sharon Osbourne, has signed up for a seven-week stint playing Mama Morton in the London run of Chicago.
Performing night after night in a medium where mistakes can’t be undone will be a daunting task for Kelly Osbourne, who so far in life has only really succeeded at having famous parents, not dying in house fires and being in an advert for Doritos once. But, just to show everyone how seriously she’s taking the Chicago opportunity, Kelly Osbourne has stopped eating so many cakes. People reports:
A newly trim-looking Osbourne, 22, has signed on to costar in the musical Chicago in London’s West End, the Associated Press reports. She will play Mama Morton, the prison matron, for a seven-week run. Her first performance is set for Sept. 10. “It’s been a dream of mine to be in the West End,” Osbourne tells London’s Daily Mail. “I can’t wait to work with such an amazing cast.”
But will Kelly Osbourne be able to survive the rigours of grinding out song after song and dance after dance every night for seven weeks as part of the Chicago cast? Not even an experienced pro like Usher could remain in top health for Chicago, and we all know what musical theatre did to David Hasselhoff. So really Kelly Osbourne has it all to prove as part of the Chicago cast – and even skinny Kelly Osbourne must realise that it’ll take a mixture of gruelling effort and dumb luck to stand up against former Chicago greats like Gaby Roslin and one of Hale And Pace.
