Now that mostly everyone seems to think that Casino Royale was a partial success – even if was 30 minutes too long and didn't have enough scenes of space lasers blowing up invisible cars – it's time to look to the next James Bond film.
The plot of James Bond 22 isn't too much of a secret – we saw one of the baddies that James Bond is after at the end of Casino Royale, and we're fairly certain that there won't be a single joke in the entire sodding film – but the big question is about who's going to do the theme-tune to Bond 22? According to Brandon Flowers from The Killers, it's going to be them. Which would be good, aside from the fact that The Killers are really lousy and their song is bound to be shit.
Daniel Craig – the gun-hating James Bond who got his teeth punched out by a midget – had been bigged-up by everyone from people who are paid to say they like him to people who take clothes a bit too seriously, and yet Casino Royale was still beaten at the US box office by some singing penguins. Why was this? Was it because a 150-minute film about cards is actually incredibly dull? Was it because people miss James Bond flying into space and punching out men with metal teeth? We think we know. It was the Casino Royale theme-tune.
We were expecting the Casino Royale theme-tune to be a sleek, sexy number performed by Goldfrapp but we couldn't have been wronger – instead the Casino Royale theme-tune was a lot of hoary old rawk bluster bellowed by that bloke out of Audioslave. And it was rubbish – easily the worst James Bond theme-tune since, oh, Madonna at least. But despite all this, Daniel Craig has signed up for Bond 22 – and Bond 22 has a release date for May 2008 – so it means that someone needs to start thinking about doing a theme-tune.
And that someone is The Killers, the Vegas Mormon indie rock act who can't help but annoy anyone who has two ears properly connected to a functioning brain. Killers frontman Brandon Flowers is under the impression that Bond producers want a whiny piece of processed indie for Bond 22 – apparently called Risico – as a source told The Sun:
“The Killers have reached the perfect point in their career to do a Bond track. They have the right sound, right look and a huge fanbase, making them the perfect choice."
Whether or not this has any element of the truth in it, or if it's all just an elaborate way of getting people to buy The Killers' generic new single, isn't known yet. But we're kind of hoping that Brandon Flowers gets a role in Bond 22 out of all of this – hopefully as a singer in a band who get eaten by ninja sharks with laser cannons on top of their heads.

geez, nice way to try to be funny by insulting two great things. Next time cry to yourself about it.

What an insult. Just because they’re not some crappy unheard of band no one knows about doesn’t mean they’re shit. I know you probably have your little non-mainstream ear bleeding traffic noise that you like to listen to, but most of us like popular music, music that is good and most people like it. That’s why they’re popular. I always see everyone loving a band that’s good until it reaches a certain popularity and apppears on the top charts. Then all of a sudden it’s ‘uncool’ music. even if it’s the same as when they were less popular.

The Killers are a great band who make real rock music who are original (yet there influences are heard through a unique twist, and will still be heard after the next 10 years) and aren’t caught up in the trashy emo/punk phase currently poisoning rock. Casion Royale has been considered by many critics as one of the best Bond films, and I believe so too. Never the less, both are only opinions. But why don’t you, as a good critic should, take a good ear to the music, before pre-judging from a pessimistic, biased perspective as you have seem to taken on.

Yeah, stop with all the ‘writing funny stuff’, will you? Anonymous says so. You might as well pack up and go home.

gosh, you just seem to take a negative perspective on everything about casino royale and the killers. the killers are a great band and the james bond films are great so hopefully them two together should be good.
Quantum Guy says
Yes, two errors in this story.
Quantum of Solace will be released November 7th,
and EON productions is said to have approached a band with a slightly larger fan base:
The Police.

The Killers are a kick ass band and would make an awesome song to go with a James Bond movie. Whoever wrote this peice of shit is fucking retarded.

Totally wrong with the comment you made about the theme tune to Casino Royale. It is unarguably the greatest Bond theme tune and probably always will be the greatest Bond theme tune. Chris Cornell is a legend and if you think oppositely to me then you are totally 100% wrong and out of your depth!

its gone 2008 so somethings missing, but the killers are wank, and james bond has got boring,
