Hecklerspray is committed to ending climate change, which explains our policy of cooling global temperature by leaving all refrigerator doors wide open and keeping the air-con on full-whack 24/7 – but Sheryl Crow seems to be doing more than us.
Because Sheryl Crow has realised the only way to end global warming is by travelling around America, only occasionally stopping to sing All I Wanna Do Is Have Some Fun at a bunch of students while Larry David's wife gives them all a lightbulb. That's right – Sheryl Crow is going on tour to stop global warming, and she isn't going to quit until all global warming is a thing of the past. Or until next Sunday. Whichever one comes first.
There are plenty of ways to reduce carbon emissions – by moderating your use of central heating or air conditioning, by using public transport instead of cars whenever possible, by not over-filling kettles before you switch them on, by never leaving electrical equipment on standby, by getting billions of people to turn on their televisions for an entire day so they can watch Madonna use up immense amounts of carbon by singing Like A Prayer accompanied by a vast light show… that sort of thing.
But Sheryl Crow appears to be talking the threat of climate change more seriously than the organisers of Live Earth, because she's gone on tour herself to try and stop global warming. CBS reports:
Sheryl Crow, riding aboard a bus that uses biodiesel fuel, is on an 11-stop college tour to raise awareness about global warming. Accompanying the Grammy-winning singer is Laurie David, who produced the film on climate change, "An Inconvenient Truth," which won the Oscar for best documentary earlier this year. Each stop on the tour will include remarks by David, a short performance by Crow, clips from "An Inconvenient Truth" and a dialogue with students, according to Crow's Web site.
Sheryl Crow's global warming tour seems to have a little more heart than Al Gore's Live Earth concerts because it's less of an obvious ego-wank – performed on a much smaller scale and focused on delivering a message directly to the people who want to change things rather than a bunch of attention whores who want to spend £55 to see Razorlight.
Plus, for what it's worth, Sheryl Crow is absolutely dedicated to halting climate change – she's already vowed to shrink her carbon footprint by using less tissues to cry into the next time she goes on TV to weep about her boyfriend leaving her. But not everyone can commit to that, so we're urging everyone to follow hecklerspray's carbon-reducing steps: next time you want to listen to a Sheryl Crow album, save energy by only listening to the first ten seconds of track one, then remove the CD and spend the next hour wondering why you actually spend money on a Sheryl Crow album in the first place.
If we all do this, the ice caps will freeze up again. Honest.

Sorry, but it was a fictional tour.

I have yet to understand how Sheryl Crow can be sooo against global warming while her music appears in TV commercials for Subaru Outback SUV’s. She’s accepting money to help sell SUV’s … how do you rate that?!
