Paula Abdul hasn't released an album since 1995, and the world has changed a lot in the meantime.
For example, duetting with cartoon cats is no longer in fashion, drum sounds no longer have to echo for 30 seconds and also the popularity of the internet means that people can discover how bad your new songs are before they've even paid for them. But that hasn't stopped Paula Abdul from recording a brand new album.
Paula Abdul hasn't had a UK top 20 since 1992. We get the feeling it'll stay that way.
It may come as no surprise that Paula Abdul is a woman with several fingers in a lot of pies. What may be surprising is that none of the pies are filled with psychotropic drugs that can be absorbed through the fingers. They're filled with, um, multimedia opportunities. Or something.
Obviously Paula Abdul is a fixture on American Idol, where she gets to dole out all kinds of advice to singers – some that may or may not be delivered sexually – in the form of a confused old lady who can't stop giggling for long enough to work out where she is. Then there's Hey Paula, the reality TV show which proves that, actually, Paula Abdul is like that all the time.
And then there's also film work – Paula Abdul choreographed that Bratz movie that nobody watched – and occasional appearances on the internet which mainly seem to involve gigantic sobbing breakdowns. But what about music? Yes, Paula Abdul may have been a pop sensation 20 years ago, but she's given all of that up now, surely.
No way! Paula Abdul's musical career is back! Whether you like it or not.
You may have noticed yesterday – between the commercials and the Tom Petty snoozefest and the actual sport – that Paula Abdul performed at the Super Bowl. Well, OK, maybe 'performed' is an overstatement. Paula Abdul mimed a song that sounded like a Britney Spears B-side demo at the Super Bowl and staggered around a bit. Have a look…
But that wasn't actually a Paula Abdul song – it's from Randy Jackson's new album. But the experience was so much fun for Paula Abdul that she's decided to to a full album herself. Access Hollywood reports:
After releasing her first single in ten years, the dance techno tune, “Dance Like There’s No Tomorrow”, former pop star and “American Idol” judge Paula Abdul announced on her official Web site that an entire album is coming this summer. The album will reportedly be titled, “Abdulmatic.” The collaboration on the single was a mutual decision according to Paula, who told Access Hollywood, "I didn't have to twist his arm and I didn't have to pay him and I didn't have to do the old kick-ball change, kick-ball change, back flip."
Not. A. Clue.
Whether Paula Abdul's new album will mean she has to leave to American Idol is unknown, but if Dance Like There's No Tomorrow is any indication she might have to. After all, it's going to be hard to take musical criticism from someone whose singing voice has been processed so much that she's ended up sounding like Stephen Hawking's robot wife being goosed by a toaster.

Paula did an amazing job at super bowel! so she lip synced,so what? most singers do we they sing LIVE.She had a glowing smile on her face the whole way through and she was having fun and every one loved it! Who cares if she did not dance alot?? she still danced! She worked so hard in just 3 weeks to make a music comeback! she did the song, aired it,made a music video and performed LIVE in 3 weeks,Hell I would like to see any one else do that!! she has more talentin her one finger than alot of celebs I can mention!! and don’t compare her to Britney Spears, that just stupid,Paula is nothing like her.

Can’t you just leave these celebrities alone??? It’s so sad what this world is coming to. So many of us do nothing but point out people’s flaws and nitpick every little thing they do and act like we’re all so much better than them. Heck, maybe we are, maybe we aren’t. Point is, at the end of the day they’re just trying to live their lives doing things they love to do. They’re not out there trying to shove things down our necks. If they’re on TV/films and you don’t like their shows, don’t watch or just switch to another channel. If they’re making music, and you don’t like it, then don’t listen to it or tune in to a different station. Just because they live public lives does not entitle us to poke fun of them all we want and call them names. Stop crucifying these people for being human.

Yes it does. All day.

It doesn’t matter what song Paula had released, it could have been the best song written in the history of music, this blogger and all the other haters out there would have dissed it and her anyway. They had already made their minds up before even listening to it. They lead such petty lives that the only thing that makes them happy is to put everyone else down. And they have extremely selective memory as well…critizising her for her dance moves when it’s public knowledge that she has undergone extensive surgery in her neck and back and suffers from a neural disease. And then the whole lipsync thing…What about Chris Brown at the VMA, what about Madonna, what about Kylie, what about Britney, what about Janet and everyone else who moves around while they are performing – THEY ALL LIPSYNC!!! It’s no big deal – it’s entertainment, and Paula is an incredible entertainer!
Why not for once in your life, applaud someone for making an effort and for fighting her way back despite the incredible pain she is in.
Paula is such a positive person and she has never done anything to harm other people – she does not deserve to be treated like this.
So to all the haters on the web: Stop hating on people that have achieved something in their lives, just because you haven’t. Leave the computer for one second, stop throwing hatred through cyberspace and go out and create something of real value!

Nonsense. She’s just like Hitler. Only with songs. And bad dancing, due to being disabled. Don’t you see? She has you all FOOLED! She’s evil!
