Now that Joey has long since become a member of the Almost Hypnotically Useless Spin-Off Sitcom Club, Matt LeBlanc has had a lot of time to focus on other things, like his wife. And mainly Matt's been focusing on how much he wants to divorce her.
But now all of Matt LeBlanc's dreams have come true. Well, not all of Matt LeBlanc's dreams, obviously – he's yet to build a rocketship fuelled entirely by laughter, and he still hasn't made a film that wasn't a bag of shit – but the dream about Matt LeBlanc divorcing his wife has come true; after three years of marriage, Matt LeBlanc and his wife Melissa McKnight are divorced.
Divorce comes in many colours – Eminem needs a mediator for his divorce, Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson needed a TV show for theirs and David Hasselhoff needed to stagger around an airport drunk and urinating when his divorce came through. Not Matt LeBlanc, though – Matt LeBlanc's marriage was like Joey, in that it started with a lot of hype and then slipped quietly out the back door when it was done.
It's been seven months since Matt LeBlanc split from his wife Melissa, and yet it's only know that the couple have finalised their terms and made their divorce complete, as ET Online reports:
ET has obtained their dissolution papers, which cite the popular "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the split. According to the papers, the couple, who had a prenuptial agreement, will share joint and legal custody over their 2-year-old daughter, Marina. Matt will also provide $15,000 a month in child support until Marina's 18th birthday. Melissa has two older children from a previous marriage.
$15,000 a month? That's a lot of pocket money – it's enough to kind of make us wish that our parents got divorced when we were two years old so that we could have got some of that cash. And we also wish that our Dad was the fat one from a successful sitcom and possibly ran off with the co-star in its useless spin-off sitcom. Or something.
And anyway, will Matt LeBlanc really be able to pay out $15,000 a month? We didn't know that working as a street-mime because your sitcom died made that much money.
