There's a fine line between Kiefer Sutherland and Jack Bauer – for example, Jack Bauer would only drive around drunk if terrorists had spiked his drink and he had to save his whiny daughter, whereas Kiefer Sutherland just does it for giggles.
Kiefer Sutherland, you see, has been arrested for DUI after failing a sobriety test, according to the Los Angeles Police Department. It's the second time that Kiefer Sutherland has been arrested for drink-driving in the past five years, but this time it was special because Kiefer Sutherland got arrested doing the things he loves – being really drunk and saving the environment. Seriously – if Kiefer Sutherland had a rubbish heavy metal band in the back of his car when he got busted, then angrily tortured the first seven policemen that tried to arrest him, it'd have been a clean sweep for Kiefer.
Kiefer Sutherland has really made quite the comeback in recent years, hasn't he? After spending most of the 1990s starring in no-mark rubbish like The Last Days Of Frankie The Fly and After Alice, 24 came and brought Kiefer Sutherland back to the front of everyone's mind as Jack Bauer – the all-American superhero so strong he can save the world from nuclear disaster every other year and beat an addiction to heroin in about 90 minutes. But despite all the broken action figure prototypes and multi-season contract money, Kiefer Sutherland still isn't as famous as, say, Paris Hilton.
And, as everyone knows, there are two ways to beat that. You can either a) get filmed having a load of sex on the internet or b) get arrested for DUI. And thank goodness Kiefer Sutherland didn't go for a). It's been reported that Kiefer Sutherland was arrested for drink-driving in the early hours of this morning on the way home from some sort of party. E! Online picks up the chase:
Sutherland was stopped at the corner of La Cienega and Beverly at 1:35 a.m. after officers spotted the Emmy winner making an illegal U-turn. After making the stop, the officers issued the actor a field sobriety test, which he failed. According to police, a field sobriety test was administered at the scene, clocking Sutherland's blood-alcohol level over the 0.08 percent legal limit for the state of California. According to TMZ, the Breathalyzer revealed the 40-year-old's blood-alcohol level to be more than twice the legal limit.
After being taken to Hollywood police station, Kiefer Sutherland was formally booked at 4:09am and later released on $25,000 bail. He'll be due in court on October 16, but shouldn't expect an easy ride because this DUI arrest is Kiefer's second in recent years – meaning he'll be forced to spend five mandatory days in jail if he's convicted this time around. Following the jail sentence, it's likely that Kiefer Sutherland will grow a beard and turn into a recluse, only for an urgent matter of national security to arise that requires his high-level knowledge of how to act like a shambling drunk mess in a car, at which point the beard will come off and it'll be business as usual.
But it's good to see that – after all the 24 environmental messages – Kiefer Sutherland can live up to his word. Not only did Kiefer Sutherland's arrest take place as he was leaving the Fox Fall Eco-Casino party, but now he's been busted for drink-driving, he'll reduce his carbon footprint by not having a car to drive any more. Kiefer Sutherland – walking it like he talks it.
Well, maybe not 'walking it' – it's really more of a drunken stumbled lurch. And it's only really 'talking' in the sense that the only thing to come out of his mouth is a garbled nonsensical slur and the occasional spittle bubble. But you get the drift.

Kiefer Sutherland Busted For Driving Around All Drunk
“All drunk”? is that opposed to “partially drunk”? I think “drunk” includes its own severity qualifier.
Thank you extremely very much.

I worked as a manager in a hotel that Kiefer Sutherland used to stay at and hang out often. Both he and Robert Downey Jr., were the rudest, most horrible people I had ever had to deal with! You would work so hard to meet their needs and they would scream and curse at the staff – cutting them off in mid sentence. I was so disappointed because I used to have so much respect for them both. I’ve never seen people be so abusive. I’m sure the drug abuse plays a part in this kind of behavior – but it was really horrible.
