It's always terribly upsetting when the fifth most famous former Baywatch star splits up with the guitarist in a band that made a decent album 16 years ago, and even more upsetting when they get divorced.
But, sadly, that's what's happening with Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro – Carmen Electra officially filed for divorce yesterday. Whether or not that was a reaction to the news that the Blink 182 drummer, who had an MTV show just like Carmen and Dave, was getting a divorce first remains to be seen. We'd hope not, since this petty game of one-upmanship will either end in death or the formation of a supergroup featuring the talents of Travis Barker and Dave Navarro, and we're not sure which would be worse.
This flipping Curse Of MTV thing is getting out of hand, isn't it? If it wasn't bad enough witnessing the divorce of Nick Lachey and Jessica Simpson after their MTV show ended, then the divorce of opportunistic MTV bandwagon-jumpers Travis Barker and Shanna Moakler was enough to push most right-minded devotees of rubbish programmes about married famous people to the edge. "At least Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro have only split rather than fully divorce," we all thought with a sigh of relief – but our worst fears have just been confirmed.
According to reports, Carmen Electra yesterday filed for divorce from Dave Navarro – breaking the hearts of anyone dumb enough to emotionally invest in the personal lives of two people they're never likely to meet. Less than a month ago, Carmen Electra and Dave Navarro split up, leaving Dave writing in his online journal that he and Carmen:
"love each other, we are and always will be best friends. In fact, we are supporting each other through this time. What better way to get through a tough spot than with your best friend?"
Uh, getting through the same tough spot with the world's most famous pornstar? Rumours are circulating that Dave Navarro is now finding comfort in the arms of Jenna Jameson, who's also just split up with her husband. It's unknown whether or not this has pushed Carmen Electra into filing for divorce, but that's what she did yesterday at the Los Angeles Superior Court, citing irreconcilable differences. E! Online reports that:
In her documents, she requested that all her own assets be confirmed as separate property and that the couple's premarital agreement be upheld.
But don't be upset, Carmen Electra. We're sure that there'll be a queue of eligible young men lining up outside your door ready for you to push uncooked pasta up their arse while screaming racial slurs at them during intercourse. We're positive of it, in fact.
