Phil Spector appears to be a bit of a cursed soul – he worked with John Lennon and John Lennon got shot, he worked with Starsailor and a woman ended up dead and now the lawyer defending him of murder has come down all poorly too.
The Phil Spector murder trial has been held up for at least two days after Bruce Cutler, the man employed to try and convince the world that Phil Spector didn't blast a woman's mouth off in 2003, apparently came down ill with some kind of sickness. Of course, while the likelihood is that Bruce Cutler genuinely is feeling under the weather, in a high-profile trial like Phil Spector's rumours are bound to fly. Perhaps Bruce Cutler is trying to postpone the inevitable, or perhaps he's chasing a killer witness. Or maybe Bruce Cutler realised that Martha Stewart is making accessories for a bandanna-themed children's party on her show today and figured that seeing that was more important than going to work. We can see why – those bandanna party favours are just adorable.
It's a sad affair that the biggest break Phil Spector has got so far in his much-delayed murder trial has been that his own lawyer's diabetes medication has gone wrong. Thanks to Bruce Cutler becoming ill and halting the Phil Spector murder trial for a couple of days, this might be the longest the world goes without hearing how Spector might have shot Lana Clarkson in the mouth over the next few months.
And that might be a good thing, because so far Phil Spector's side has all the work to do. Several potential jurors admitted that they thought Phil Spector did it before the case even started, then the prosecution called Spector "sinister and deadly" and then Bruce Cutler's own opening statement for the defence was overshadowed by a witness claiming that Phil Spector held a gun to her head too.
So, with all of that in mind, you can see why a lawyer falling ill and holding everything up would be good news for Phil Spector. According to the Los Angeles Times, it was Bruce Cutler's diabetes medicine went wrong and held up proceedings:
Jurors in the Phil Spector murder trial were sent home without hearing testimony Monday because of a medical problem suffered by defense attorney Bruce Cutler. Reached by phone, Cutler said he had problems with his diabetes medications and was awaiting test results due today. He said he hoped to return to court Wednesday. "Superman has to get some kryptonite taken out of his system," Cutler said. "I want to get through this so I can keep lifting the world the way I want to."
That's right Bruce, compare yourself to Superman. That'll get the jury onside. The Phil Spector murder trial is expected to resume tomorrow.

Re: Starsailor – Whaaa? Not heard that one…

OK, the woman was Lana Clarkson who doesn’t have anything to do with Starsailor except that Phil Spector produced Silence Is Easy just before Clarkson died.
I just like linking Starsailor to deaths is all
