You may have noticed as of late that certain events from Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards have sent the news wires all a twitter, all of which have had nothing to do with videos, or music, or awards.
No, this incessant chatter rather has to do largely with Britney Spears’s ‘comeback’ performance that mostly showed she should ‘comeback’ to rehab, Kid Rock and Tommy Lee throwing drunken, sweaty punches presumably over a woman that tried to get monumental busts of famous chicken colonels removed, and Fergie being too Fergalicous to show up at all because she was up in the gym just workin’ on her fitness, maybe.
We know, we know. It’s enough already. That’s why it’s time to move on to the really important stuff, like Kanye West and his inevitable post-VMA foot-stomping toddler tantrum directed at the big meanies at MTV for not letting him perform on the main stage at the VMAs in his Jesus costume while eating a giant curried fish… or something.
You know Kanye West…he has parties where someone sometimes gets shot in the leg, dresses up like Jesus for the cover of Rolling Stone, and gets a tad testy when he doesn’t win Grammys he knows he should win. Kanye West once again showed us all that he is the martyr of unjust situations by saying in a recent radio interview that MTV betrayed him. You see, not only was Kanye West upset that he didn’t win any awards, but he felt that MTV betrayed him by convincing him to perform in a suite to a smaller audience than on the main stage at the VMAs.
On Monday, Kanye West spoke with New York radio station Z100 where he aired his heart-wrenching grievances. Cue the violin music, please:
"I wasn't mad that I just didn't win any awards," West says. "For me, [MTV] made it seem like performing on the main stage was a bad thing, and the suites were just so great. It was my dream when I made 'Stronger' to open up the VMAs with a real power performance…And I just feel like I got betrayed by them. I feel like they tried to make it seem like I was so into everything that was going on in the show.”
Uh-oh, it looks as if MTV shouldn’t count on a lovely fruit and cheese basket from Kanye West for Christmas this year. MTV also shouldn’t expect Kanye West to do any scheduled TRL appearances to promote his new album, Graduation, because Kanye has cancelled said appearances.
And if you’re thinking ‘gosh, I surely wish Kanye West would go on about more ways a music video station that doesn’t ever play music videos has wronged people’, then you’re in luck! Kanye West also defended Britney Spears’ infamous VMA performance saying that MTV was out to ruin her career by sabotaging what was to be her big comeback. Yeah, way to go MTV! How dare you put Britney in a blindingly appalling costume and apparently force her to stumble around on the stage like a newborn deer on stilts pumped full of GHB.
Shame on you. Shame on all of you.

The VMAs should become a weekly event. You’d never have a slow news day again.
