After Jennifer Hudson won her Oscar for Dreamgirls, it was difficult to see where she'd take her career after that – there just aren't that many films made with dumpy black singing characters, are there?
But Jennifer Hudson has finally decided which direction her career should go in – the direction of bit-parts in movie spin-offs of old TV shows. It's been announced that Jennifer Hudson is set to star in the new Sex And The City movie as Sarah Jessica Parker's assistant. While we're not sure what Sarah Jessica Parker's assistant actually does – perhaps she scours the internet for things that Sarah Jessica Parker can compare men to in her column – the Sex And The City movie could be Jennifer Hudson's big chance to consolidate her previous success; play her cards right and next year maybe Jennifer Hudson could even be starring as Third Woman From The Left in Jim'll Fix It: The Motion Picture.
Fans of Sex And The City have been without their favourite show for three years now – and that's a hell of a long time when all you want is to hear a shoe-faced woman describe how going on a date with a man is a lot like going to the supermarket before seeing four slags sitting round a table talking about their vaginas like it's the most cosmopolitan thing in the world to do when clearly it isn't. But Sex And The City fans have got every reason to celebrate, because a Sex And The City movie is on the way.
And what's more, the Sex And The City movie is going to co-star Jennifer Hudson from Dreamgirls too. This is significant for all sorts of reasons, not least because the only minority that Sex And The City has represented in the past was gingers. Also, there's a strong likelihood that Jennifer Hudson will take her top off at some point during the Sex And The City movie, although we haven't worked out if that's a good thing or not yet. BBC News reports:
Dreamgirls star Jennifer Hudson has joined the cast of the Sex and the City: The Movie, it has been reported. The Oscar-winner will play Carrie Bradshaw's (Sarah Jessica Parker) assistant in the film, according to US trade paper Variety. Michael Patrick King, who executive produced the series, has written and will direct the film. Shooting is due to start in New York on 19 September.
The inclusion of Jennifer Hudson will bring some genuine star-wattage to the Sex And The City movie – not only did she win an Oscar for Dreamgirls, but Chicago also held a Jennifer Hudson Day to mark her achievements – and that's important, because so far the Sex And The City movie only stars the woman from Failure To Launch, the woman from The Shaggy Dog, the woman from the teabag adverts and a ginger lesbian. And who'd want to see a film with those idiots in it?
In fact, the more we think about this, the more perfect it seems for Jennifer Hudson to star in a Sex And The City movie. It's a nice role in a high-profile film set in contemporary times – plus the pressure will be completely off because, in terms of Sex And The City co-star history, Jennifer will only have to do better than this lousy piece of shit…

I feel I must complain about the language and characterisation used in this disgraceful article. At no point did you refer to Sarah Jessica Parker as having a face like a horse. Please publish a correction forthwith.

Seconded, pedant.
Without the ole horse face reference I find it hard to place their names.
Still, at least she hasn’t done a britney a flopped her minge out…her horse-looking face would be a damn sight prettier after seein that.

She looks more like Dee Schneider from Twisted Sister I always thought.
