Literally not a single person on the planet had any faith in the engagement between Aaron Carter and Playmate Kari Ann Peniche when it was announced, although it has all come to a messy end quicker than most of us expected.
That's correct – Aaron Carter and Kari Ann Peniche are no more, after a joy-filled six days of engagement. However, we don't doubt Aaron Carter's ability to learn from his mistakes and bounce back, and we're fully expecting him to publicly declare another engagement to some other naked girl who'd previously been having it off with his older brother any day now.
It's a scene we've all imagined at one point or another – you're on a stage in Las Vegas in front of a couple of hundred boozed-up punters, and suddenly you're struck by the urge to propose to the Playboy model you're dating in front of everyone, even though you're fully aware that she'd been having sex with your older brother before she met you. That is literally the dictionary definition of romance; and if it isn't, it should be. Aaron Carter knows this, because this is how he got engaged to Playmate Kari Ann Peniche less than a week ago. At the time, both Aaron Carter and Kari Ann Peniche were over the moon at their engagement, with Peniche saying:
"He's kind, loving, and I love him so much."
Somewhat inevitably though – and with enough speed to probably make Kimberly Stewart green with envy – the Aaron Carter/ Kari Ann Peniche engagement is already off. Why? Well, because it was blatantly the most transparently dumb thing that anyone had done all year, obviously, but here are the official reasons, as Aaron Carter told Ryan Seacrest:
"It was a big blur. It wasn't a big deal. I made a mistake, and she made a mistake, too… [I] acted on impulse… Is that a good excuse? Don't get me wrong, I do want to be a married man one day, but just with the right person… I want a good girl, and it's really hard to find one."
Yeah, our search for a good girl always starts with women who get paid to show their tits to grubby men and who have already slept with our big brother too, so we know exactly how Aaron Carter feels here. Also, Kari Ann Peniche has been explaining the end of the engagement to The Playboy Morning radio show, although she's slightly less sugar-coated about it:
"You know, he has a lot of emotional problems, and I just want him to get healthy and happy. I just want him to become stable… As romantic as it was and how surprising…reality set in. Aaron is one of the most genuine people I know, and he has an amazing heart, but we realised that, at our age, we weren't quite ready for the commitment of marriage."
We don't know what's sadder here; the fact that being a moderately successful child star seems to have warped Aaron Carter's sense of normality and his obvious quest for approval has materialised itself in the form of meaningless public declarations of love, or the fact that the end of this engagement means that Kari Ann Peniche won't be slamming her baps out on the new Aaron Carter reality TV show any time soon. They pain us equally, although the invention of Google Images has softened the blow of the last one a bit.
