The X Factor judges know a good thing when they see one. They know that X Factor is nothing more than a jumped up television talent show, and they know that the public is starting to get sick of them.
So how do they make X Factor more interesting? By making it more about the managers having a bunch of petty squabbles than any of the actual singers. If Sharon Osbourne says that Louis Walsh called her a stupid divvy, they both know that it’ll be all over the newspapers instantly and that all the plebs at home will want to watch X Factor to see if the managers really do hate each other.
So if X Factor is really just all about the managers, why not bet on which manager will win X Factor? It’s fun, and it also means you don’t have to concentrate on Journey South as much as you would otherwise have to.
So here are this week’s X Factor winning manager odds, with help from Betfair…
Simon Cowell – Simon Cowell, we’ve established, doesn’t stand a
chance of winning this year’s X Factor. He only has two acts left, both
of whom are so completely devoid of talent that they’d be more useful
if they were concreted into the ground and used as bollards. There’s
The Conway Sisters, who spend their Saturdays teetering on the edge of
elimination – we read a news article calling them ‘sexy’ this week and
we got confused, until we realised we were reading the Sligo Weekender.
Simon’s other act is Journey South, and he’s very obviously pinning
all his hopes on them. The only problem is, they’re terrible. Two
denim-ed GHD’d buffoons with an unplugged guitar singing hoary old
Bryan Adams songs. They’re so bad that they make us want to weep.
They’ll probably be in the final three or four, but they won’t win. And that means that Simon Cowell won’t, either.
Current odds – 27/5 (6.4)
Louis Walsh – Louis Walsh is starting to catch up with Simon in
terms of eliminated acts, after the universally hopeless Phillip Magee
was kicked off the show last week. And his other acts aren’t completely
mindblowing either.
Louis looks after Chenai who, while she seems like a pleasant enough
girl, is edging closer and closer to elimination each week. And he
looks after Nicolas, again, nice but entirely bland. Neither of
them are really potential winners. Louis is already staking his claim
with Shayne. The ladies love Shayne, Shayne loves the ladies, and
Shayne’s Dad loves the pensioners. Shayne is Louis’s only real chance
of winning X Factor. Current odds – 15/11 (2.36)
Sharon Osbourne – Sharon Osbourne is the favourite manager to win X
Factor by the slightest of margins. She still has all her competitors –
Andy, Maria, Brenda and Chico – in the show, which looks good on paper.
But one of those is Chico – one of the most disliked characters on TV
at the moment. He’s somehow managed to get by without being eliminated,
but his number looks likely to be up very soon.
That leaves Brenda, Maria and Andy. Brenda is a fantastic singer,
but not really a pop star, and Maria is nice but a little bit bland.
That leaves Andy who, along with Shayne, is a real candidate to win X
Factor. But he doesn’t possess the youth or looks of the younger
singer, which makes us think that Sharon won’t win this year. Current
odds – 17/13 (2.32)
