Now that my pulse has settled and I’ve mentally recovered from the breaking news about Kylie Jenner and Blac Chyna, I can deal with the sad news that is rocking the world today: R & B superstar and velvet pants aficionado, Prince, has died at the young age of 57.
Prince’s plane had to do an emergency landing last week, but his reps said he was fine; basically just had the flu. However, I guess there was more to it than that because the icon passed away today and needless to say it was unexpected.
As of now, we know very little of Prince’s death, so I really can’t comment on that, but I can say what a huge bummer it is that such a diva bitch legend is dead.
Prince was a heterosexual black man who had the personality (and wardrobe) of all the Golden Girls combined (minus Rose, because that man wasn’t one bit dumb).
I mean, today’s 18-35-year-olds probably mostly know him thanks to Dave Chapelle’s on point impersonations, rather than for his sweet jams like Raspberry Beret, but the man’s musical influence on the world has been huge. So huge that we all overlook that brief period of time he changed his name to a symbol. But we loved him, and we forgave him for that.
Like the amazing David Bowie—who we also tragically lost this year—Prince broke all sorts of gender stereotypes and proved you could be a sensual, sexual man, but also an incredibly versatile performer, wearing eyeliner, puffy blouses and heels. Now that I think about it, if the world is wiping out male musicians who aren’t afraid or ashamed of dressing like ladies, we need to keep an eye on Iggy Pop! Someone put him in a padded and protected hospital room asap!

Reality check. He is popular only in America and maybe other western countries(mostly english). Infact he is not even famous in third world countries. The only global star was..well you know who. He died on june 25, 2009. There is a culture in english speaking countries and their media who compare the greatest to Prince, Elvis blablabla etc.
Sorry. But have some class people. Beatles are somewhat comparable to the you know who. But others…. pffff what a joke. I don’t give a shit, but the comparisons, the hatred of media towards him, articles belittling him and the pathetic fans in US or UK makes me wanna give them a piece of my mind.

Oh and i came across this is through a different article i was reading and i happened to see the picture and then the stupid title “The World Just Got a Little Less Sexy” is the reason i am posting.

Did you call yourself “Moron” or was your name changed by the site staff? If the former, that was the only oddly prescient bit of sense you were able to show in your comment. Now, I GET that you’re a wildly obsessed MJ fan, so I am I in fact – it’s what led me to Prince (via Janet), but one thing Michael could never really be described as is having a “sexy” image. (Well apart from that video directed by Herb Ritts, “In the Closet”). Prince however, played all the instruments, wrote all the songs, arranged all the songs, and somehow found the time to be a badass performer AND one of the greatest guitarists in the world (this isn’t on my authority, but on people like, erm, I dunno, Eric Clapton). And the dude TRADED in sexy. So you shut the hell up because we just lost an icon, just like we did when MJ passed on. The only difference is, I was GLAD when MJ died because the dude deserved some PEACE. Prince was enjoying living.
