When Usher's wedding was cancelled at the last minute this weekend, speculation was rife – we wanted to know who cancelled the wedding, why the wedding was cancelled, what happened to the wedding cake and if we could have it if it's going please.
Answers to those questions – especially the important cake-based questions – have yet to be formally answered by either Usher or his pregnant would-be bride Tameka Foster, but Usher has spoken to one magazine saying that the wedding is still on, but nobody knows exactly when it'll be yet. We couldn't be happier about this news – Usher's new wedding plans mean that we have a second chance to roll out those hilarious 'who'll be Usher's ushers?' wedding jokes that we sadly missed out on last time around. Bet you can't wait for those.
For a huge R&B megastar, nobody really knows that much about Usher, do they? We know that Usher can dance like a new-born baby deer trying to stand up on an ice rink, we know that Usher has made some really, really bad films and that Usher has a weak throat and can't drive properly, but as a person? Not a clue.
And it's this air of mystery that made it all the more surprising when Usher suddenly cancelled his wedding to pregnant fiancee Tameka Foster on Saturday, hours before it happened. Since no decent official explanation was offered up, speculation went into overdrive – Usher's mother was against the wedding, they said, or it was just cold feet, or there was a fight about barbecues, or Usher didn't hire enough security to stop guest Janet Jackson's nipple from making a last-gasp bid for freedom to dance about on a table a bit.
And the truth is that nobody really knows why Usher and Tameka Foster cancelled their wedding. But don't worry, those of you with weird preoccupations about the marital status of bland R&B singers, because Usher has told Us Weekly that the wedding is sort of still on a bit:
"As of right now we don't have a date but we will let you know when we do… Everybody's fine. Tameka and the baby are fine." Foster chimed: "We're good. We're all doing great now." Meanwhile, another friend of the couple assures Us that there will be an "I do" do-over in the future. "There will be a second wedding ceremony," the pal tells Us. "This is just a postponement. They are very much in love."
Of course the wedding is still on – and we don't doubt that Usher loves his new almost-bride very much. After all, Usher used to date Naomi Campbell – so any woman who doesn't have the ability to smash up yachts with her bare hands is going to be a step up for him.
