No, do not adjust your screen, I am, in fact, writing a blog about Travis Tritt. For those of you who don’t know, Travis Tritt is a country singer and he’s pretty famous in the country world. Not like Garth Brooks or Faith Hill famous, but people know who he is.
Anyway, I’m sure most of you have heard that Beyoncé performed her song ‘Daddy Lessons’ (which is technically a country song) with The Dixie Chicks at this years’ Country Music Awards and man, oh man, Travis Tritt was NOT here for it.
Tritt took to Twitter a.k.a. the place famous people go to air their grievances to let people know he’s not ok with Beyoncé getting all up on his turf. Tritt wrote:
Thanks to everyone who came out to see us in Bowling Green, KY tonight. Sorry we weren’t able to do any Beyoncé for all the country fans.
FYI – My band and I are gonna try to work up Beyoncé’s ‘All The Single Ladies’ for all you die hard country fans who love traditional music!
I want to know when the BET or SoulTrain awards are gonna ask a country artist to perform on their awards show?
First things first, it sounds like SOMEONE might be a little bit jealous that Beyoncé was asked to perform at the County Music awards and he wasn’t.
SECOND, Beyoncé released a country song, and performed a country song at the awards show. Maybe if Garth Brooks or Dolly Parton released a hip hop or R&B song they’d be invited to perform it at the SoulTrain or BET awards. In all seriousness, I would LOVE for Garth or Dolly to do that because I love them both and I’m sure they would pull off something really really cool.
Maybe die hard country fans were confused as to why the fuck Beyoncé was performing on the show, and I get that, because if like Tim McGraw was like ‘Hey, I’ll be performing at the BET Awards next week’, I’d be like ‘Hmm, that’s odd.’ But then he’d get up and do one of those songs he does with Nelly and I’d be like ‘Oh, ok, this makes sense I guess,’ just like when Beyoncé went out on the CMA stage and performed ‘Daddy Lessons’ with The Dixie Chicks I was like ‘Oh, ok, this makes sense I guess.’ You know?
Beyoncé is the biggest star in the world and she wrote a good country song and the CMAs probably wanted the ratings, so chill the fuck out, Travis Tritt. It’s not like she got up there and performed ‘Formation’, so you can relax.
Also, looking at the above picture really makes me realize how much Travis Tritt looks like my uncle Mike. Weird.

Travis Tritt has more talent in one pinky than Beyoncé has in her whole body. That is, musical talent. He might not be as good a dancer, but the man can play a guitar and a banjo and a dobro and his natural singing voice is amazing.
P.S. If you reread his comments, he said nothing personally against her. Chill.

@Melanie. He might have talent but he sounds like a racist to me and you do too. Beyonce was paid to perform for good reason. If Travis is as talented as you say he is he shouldn’t have any problem doing a presentable cover of one of her songs. How about “Don’t Hurt Yourself”.

I’m not sure if Bouncy is “the biggest star in the world”, but maybe in your world. The only song of hers I know at all is the one about ‘you should put a ring on it’, and that’s only because of a tv show.
I’m also curious if you’ve ever heard of “Chris Gaines”.
It doesn’t matter much. In a moment I’m going to block your site in my firewall so I don’t have to deal with your bigotry or bullshit anymore.

Beyonce cares less about country music or the history behind it. It is all about the money to her. Hey that’s okay, I go to work to make money and that is it. Here goes the “but”, I can see where an established country artist might be a little offended with a non-country artist making one country song and getting invited to sing at the CMA’s. I don’t think Beyonce’s normal music “or her husband’s” are in line with Country musics values either. Country music traditionally is a lot more conservative than hip hop or gangsta rap. I think Mr. Tritt was brave enough to come out and say what a lot of country stars are thinking. It’s all about ratings and the money.
