Where do I even start with this shit? Ok, I’ll start with Michael Buble, I guess, because I’ve always fucking hated that guy and thought he was a total tool and now finally, FINALLY, the rest of the world is starting to see my way. The other day, Michael Buble posted the above pic and caption to his Instagram account, and people got really pissed. And no, it wasn’t just because of that smug douche bag look on his face.
Michael was in line somewhere and noticed that the girl in front of him was wearing some pretty unflattering shorts. Unlike the rest of us who might’ve merely thought to ourselves “Girl, those shorts aren’t doing you any favors” then gone on with our days, Michael decided it would be JUST HILARIOUS to take a picture of himself with the unsuspecting woman in the background so he could make fun of her on a public level.
Don’t get me wrong, there have been times I’ve been in public and thought someone looked so fucking ridiculous that I snuck a pic and sent it to a friend, but I didn’t post it on the internet. And, more importantly, even if I had posted it on the internet, I’m not a major celebrity with millions of followers who would see me publicly mocking this person.
It’s not just me that thinks there is a serious problem with a dude getting a pic of a woman without her knowing so he could make fun of her on a social platform, a large portion of the internet is calling Michael out for being such a cunt rag, bodyshaming, douche nozzle, and I’m super happy about that.
However, some people are standing up for Buble and telling people to take a joke, or notice how he uses the hash tag “beautifulbum” which means he’s admiring her bum. My argument to that is 1) the context and other hash tags he’s used in the pic, along with it’s caption, in no way imply he thinks her bum is beautiful and that he is doing anything other than mocking her, and 2) if a guy I did not know was admiring my ass in a line up, took a picture of it without my knowing, because he genuinely thought it was beautiful, and posted it on the internet, I would be grossed the fuck out.
Do I think those particular shorts are a good look? No. No I do not. Girl, you could find something much nicer to flatter your figure. However, does that give Michael fucking Buble the right to post her pic on the internet next to his smug ass face? Fuck no. You are gross, Michael Buble, and I am so glad Emily Blunt didn’t marry you, because she is a classy, beautiful lady.
Moving on to another side of the spectrum, while Michael Buble is a celebrity doing some body shaming, Selena Gomez is a celebrity receiving some body shaming.
Selena is on vacation with some friends in Mexico and people got all up in arms when the typically very slim starlet looked like this in a bikini:
People are all like “OMG, Selena Gomez has really put some weight on!” And you know what? Yeah, she has put a few pounds on, it happens when you start to hit your mid-20’s and your metabolism slows down and you’re eating, drinking, being merry and enjoying life instead of hitting the gym non-stop and counting your carbs or whatever.
However, much like the black shorts the woman is wearing in the Buble pic, the only real issue is that yeah, these articles of clothing don’t fit very well and are a bit unflattering, but is that really fucking news worthy?! I mean, that bikini is obv too small, but who really cares? Selena shot back at all the body shamers by posting a pic of her in another bathing suit and captioning it:
I love being happy with me yall #theresmoretolove
Get it, gurl. I still think you’re fine.
The moral of the story: It’s 2015, people. I shouldn’t be writing a blog titled “This week in body shaming.” Grow the fuck up.

A certain Krysta Fitzpatrick seems to forget she makes her living critiquing people on the internet, and for some reason has trouble coping with the fact that this guy might have a sense of humor.
D2Falcon says
Krysta just so you know many guys including myself like girls that have curves. I don’t think any of Buble’s comments were offensive; he was obviously admiring her backside for it’s shape. Just because you don’t think those shorts look flattering, doesn’t mean Buble doesn’t and I think Selena Gomez looks sexy in that bikini.
A says
Uh, pretty sure the tag says #beautifulbum.
While you may call him insensitive, or sexist or whatever you like, sounds as though he was admiring it.
I can see the future now.. ladies sitting on the beach watching as topless men walk past with their abs on display.. “oh daaaaaayum”, one of them calls.
The internet gets a hold of this and “OH NO YOU DIDN’T! SEXIST FEMALE SCUM, ONLY STARING AT OUR BODIES”
Take a fucking chill pill.
Ali Z says
So what if Selena packed on a few pounds? She is still incredibly beautiful, and she hadn’t picked the best size for that bikini, but sooo what. She is totally in my top 5 sexiest living females list still, in my book.
What I wouldn’t do to switch places with that bikini? Still trying to figure that answer out.
bobfromchatanooga says
are you trying to be offended on purpose, or being willfully ignorant on purpose? the point of that picture is *obviously* that the girl has an amazing ass and she is wearing revealing shorts. now, if your righteous indignation was aimed at the fact that it’s weird to clandestinely photograph attractive women and then post their pictures on the internet without their permission, then fine. but instead you’re just being PC for PC’s sake, arguing at an issue that isn’t even there, and using buzzwords that clueless people will latch on to. it seems extremely low, or possibly just extremely stupid.
it actually upsets me that you get paid to do this.

If you think those shorts on the buble girls pic are unflattering, you re gay.
Janet Williford says
OK. So what you are saying is MB does not have the right to”post her pic on the internet next to his smug ass face?”, but you do?
Chris says
The only person shaming that girl is the author of this article who has made several critical comments about the girla shorts. Also go on any facebook feed and you’ll see pictures girls have taken of guys without their knowledge. Stinks of double standards.
Pepsi says
I can’t stand Michael Buble either. Something about the guy just rubs me the wrong way. I have nothing against Selena—she’s just ‘there’ but I don’t really pay that much attention to her. These celebrities today are more known for their personal life rather than their craft as artists. These are the days of our lives.

Its a compliment! That ass is PHAT!!! Call Buble a pig but so is every guy out there. Hes just a fool for posting it on IG.

He did not post it, his wife did actually. His wife is the one who took the picture.
