Learn To Take A Fucking Joke, Taylor Swift

taylor swiftOh, Taylor Swift. You should think twice before sassing Tina Fey and Amy Poehler.

In the April issue of Vanity Fair, Taylor addresses some of the gossipy drama that swirls around her, including her serial dating and the resulting public mockery … but rather than dispelling the rumors, she somehow manages to bolster her image as an insecure, possibly-delusional, boy-crazy loon.Taylor makes a lot of inane comments in the article, but by far the most egregious is her response to the joke made at her expense by Tina and Amy at the Golden Globes. If you recall, Tina and Amy were the hosts of the show and they teasingly instructed Taylor to keep away from Michael J. Fox’s son who was serving as Mr. Golden Globes that night.

When asked about the incident in her Vanity Fair interview, Taylor chose not to address it directly, but instead invoked the third-hand wisdom of talk show host Katie Couric.

“You know, Katie Couric is one of my favorite people…Because she said to me she had heard a quote that she loved, that said, ‘There’s a special place in hell for women who don’t help other women.’”

Really? That’s interesting, because I heard there’s a special place in hell for women who can’t take a fucking joke.

When told of Taylor’s somewhat delayed rebuttal, neither Amy nor Tina seemed troubled. Tina told Us Weekly:

“It was just a joke, and I think it was actually a very benign joke.”

And Amy’s response to The Hollywood Reporter was just about perfect.

“Aw, I feel bad if she was upset. I am a feminist, and she is a young and talented girl. That being said, I do agree I am going to hell. But for other reasons. Mostly boring tax stuff.”

Overall, Taylor has managed to navigate her way into adulthood quite gracefully. She hasn’t had a shotgun wedding in Vegas, developed a noticeable drug habit, or walked barefoot into a gas station bathroom. She’s talented, she can write a hell of a hook, and she’s lovely. Who cares if she likes to constantly date famous boys and then write awful songs about it? But in this interview, she sounds like she’s gotten a bit ahead of herself.

About her reputation for being boy-crazy, Taylor says:

“For a female to write about her feelings, and then be portrayed as some clingy, insane, desperate girlfriend in need of making you marry her and have kids with her … that’s taking it and turning it and twisting it into something that is frankly a little sexist.”

I almost agree with here … except that I can’t, because her lyrics are so fucking terrible, so agitatingly childish, that she presents herself, through her lyrics, precisely as “clingy, insane, [and] desperate.” If you’re never, ever, ever getting back together, then stop talking about it. Please.

Just a question- actually how many Taylor Swift songs have you listened to besides the singles? Because to say that her lyrics are shitty, the critics who rated her newest album Red one of the best albums of 2012, would disagree. You and all the other Swift haters can only defend your hate with ONE SONG- WANGBT. Which was not meant to be a serious song. Her newest album has a more sensual, musically and lyrically mature sound. How about LISTENING TO AN ALBUM before critiquing it.

  2. Sue says

Yeah, you uninformed hater, you! I agree with Laura. Why you gotta be so mean? You’re just jealous, and evil.

I’ll tell you 1 think @Laura Her Twitter handle is @taylorswift13, why is it 13 when she is like 23 years old? I’ll tell you why because her core fans are 13 years old, Plus she has yet to thank Kanye West for the career she has…..

  4. Jasmine Villegas says

Swiftie has always been a little bitch – dating hundreds of men to break up with them and write passive-aggressive songs about how awesome she is. Why am I not surprised!!!

  5. Simon R. Gladdish says

Taylor Swift is in her early twenties and worth around two hundred million dollars. I’d go out with her tomorrow.

  6. Jessica says

Actually @ Kerry her twitter is taylorswift13 because that’s her lucky number cuz she was born on the thirteenth so back the fuck off

  7. Taylor fan says

Actually she has only had 6 boyfriends SIX IS THAT ALOT?! I don’t think so so go do something other than criticising my idol thank you very mucH ????????????

  8. Callie says

I honestly don’t think its that bad. sure shes had six boyfriends but concidering she is still young, that’s not many boyfriends. and she is writing songs that help a hell of a lot of people so if all the people who hate her doesn’t like do the sensible thing. don’t read or comment this. its that simple.

  9. Butch says

Is this a question???????? Or a statement???????????? And yes 6 high profile relationships for a 23 yr old is alot.

  10. Butch says

Are you really trying to suggest that she has only written ONE song about an ex? And you’re a fan? I’m not and I know how untrue that is. Face facts, not everyone thinks the sun shines out of Ms. Swifts ass like you seem to, get over it, being that passionate about a celebrity and being that gullible that you believe everything they say is just a little bit pathetic. And I like how WANGBT (I feel stupider for typing that acronym) only became a non-serious song AFTER she copped criticism, like how Lady Gaga’s Born This Way only became a Madonna tribute AFTER everyone commented on how similar it sounded to a Madonna tune.

Its okay for a guy to write rap songs about getting blow jobs from sluts he just met, but its not okay for a young girl to write songs about her feelings about the relationships she’s had? Okay world. Whatever you say.

Its okay for a guy to write rap songs about getting blow jobs from sluts he just met, but its not okay for a young girl to write songs about her feelings about relationships she’s had? Okay world. Whatever you say. Oh and btw why does all the blame get put on her for being a “serial dater”? So she goes out with “lots” of guys (ooooh cuz 6 is sooooooo many) regardless its not just her. Relationships go two ways. She doesn’t just date them, they date her. Ever think maybe there’s a reason for that? Try reversing your respective. She an incredibly pretty girl with a lovely voice, nice style, and a lot to offer to a relationship. Why do “allllll” these guys date her if she’s so terrible? That’s what i thought. :) have a nice day

your idol, well don’t you have someone to look up to, 6 boyfriends who are in the media, now imagine before she got famous how many she had, 6 for a 23 year old is alot, im 21 and barely had 2, she is setting herself to be made fun of. Relationships and whats goes between them should be kept between those two people only, not for the whole world to know. What kind of example is she setting for young girls? that it’s ok to go out as many guys that you want then when you break up or vice-versa, that you should let all people know what went wrong? She should ask herself why she has may failed relationships and focus on that than trying to make herself seem like the victim and the guys as the pricks, she is the only one letting her buisness be known while her “ex-boyfriends” never made comments about it, so my opinion is that she should keep her mouth shut, how far does she think her career will come too, her little act of “let me write a song of my ex-boyfriend boo hoo hoo” is getting old.

  14. Betsy says

OMFG! Where do you people think songwriters get their inspiration from? It’s from their real life experiences. If Ms. Swift wants to date 100 guys and write songs about all of them, that’s on her. Maybe guys like dating her so they can be immoratalized in a song that is sure to be a hit. There is no doubt that she is popular. There is no doubt that she is successful. There is no doubt that she has some growing to do and that includes the whole point of the story. Taylor Swift and her fans included need to learn how to take a fucking joke.

  15. Carmelita says

How is it that a girl like Taylor Swift is considered good and sweet and she has dated so many men at the young age of 23? Most of those men were considerably older than her and she is considered a role model.

Then you have a girl like Miley Cyrus constantly beat up on in the media and for what? Because she played Hannah Montana and now she has grown up! It really makes no sense at all…
