In a world that still continues to not make any sense, R Kelly still has fans.? Fans that shelled out big bucks to see him perform.? Fans that are super pissed off because they not only waited hours for Kelly to go on stage, but when he finally did they realized it wasn’t even the real R Kelly.
Impersonators for big stars make sense.? The Britneys, the Michaels, the Celines.? But for the love of the age of consent, who the hell wants to be an R Kelly impersonator?? “Why yes, I just love dressing up and pretending to be a has-been musician who loves golden showers and girls getting ready for their junior prom!”
In Louisiana this past weekend, the Monroe Civic Center booked an event where the main draw was R Kelly performing live at 10 pm.? Like any swollen headed famous person, R Kelly was no where to be found at 10 pm.? Or 11.? Or even midnight.? Punctuality is for poor people.? Finally at about 1 am, R Kelly too the stage.? The annoyed, drunk fans were pissed, but at least they were going to get the show they so overly paid for.
Except it wasn’t R Kelly.? It was some a fake, and fans quickly spotted the difference.? Specifically the female groupies,?who noticed right away that the dude on stage was packing a different kind of heat than the one they had been exposed to earlier.? The R Kelly phony performed for a few minutes before the boos got too loud for him to handle, and he left the stage.? People immediately started bitching for a refund, Tweeting about the bullshit and accusing the center of trying to pull one over on them.
R Kelly’s rep came out with a statement the next day, and instead of taking any responsibility for the stunt, claimed Kelly was only booked to appear and not perform.? Except that 1) the promotion for the event specifically said R Kelly would be performing live and 2) R Kelly was never there at all.? So either the rep is a total idiot (which he probably is since he is R Kelly’s rep) or the rep is really Kelly himself trying to save face (which still makes him a total idiot).
The concert promoter did come out and apologize, saying that he was “dooped’ also and would be refunding all guests half their money.? Personally, I kind of think no one should get a dollar back, and instead this should be a life lesson to not spend money to see some shitbag pedophile whose idea of a good time involves pissing on girls just barely old enough to get a learner’s permit.
