Usually the beginning of December fills me with warm fuzzy feelings and I can’t stop smiling like a jolly fucking Christmas elf, but today I’m pretty bummed out. One of my longest running celebrity crushes, Paul Walker, has died tragically at the young age of 40.
Walker, who is probably best known for the Fast and the Furious series, was killed on Saturday, ironically, in a car crash. Typically, I’d make an asshole joke about something like that, but I’m actually really sad about this. Paul Walker was an ageless hunk who was like a fine wine who got better year after year. But instead of dwelling about his sad passing, let’s remember him for his mega babe status and his work.
Paul Walker basically owned my heart in the 90’s, and I never understood why Laney Boggs chose Freddie Prinze Jr. over him in She’s All That.?Yes, his character was kind of a huge dick head, but that hair! That smile! That face! That bod! I wanted Paul Walker to try to sleep with ME at prom! Laney Boggs, you fool! Aside from She’s All That, Walker also starred in the late-90’s gems, Varsity Blues and Pleasantville, both of which I absolutely adore. So aside from being physical perfection, he also made some really enjoyable films that I still watch, even 15 years later.
The late-90’s had a lot of major hunks: Ryan Phillippe, Freddie Prinze Jr., Matt Damon, Ben Affleck, the Backstreet Boys, Justin Timberlake, but Paul Walker out hunked them all, and up until his tragic death, he still did. The man was stunning. I’m trying really hard to stay appropriate since this is a sad blog, but just look at him. LOOK AT HIM!
Walker and his friend were killed when the car they were in lost control and crashed. The star was a passenger in the car, which burst into flames. The police are saying that speed was more than likely a factor, but little factual info has been released yet.
Walker’s famous friends have been flooding social media with their grief over the actor’s death, and this is really just all sorts of sad. Paul Walker seemed like a genuinely nice guy, he made fun films that a lot of people enjoy, and he was just way too gorgeous.
Tonight, I will watch She’s All That and cry, but this time it will be for a real reason, and not because I’m drunk and I miss the 90’s. It will be because the world is going to be a little darker without Paul Walker’s mega watt smile.
