Perez Hilton’s raison d’?tre is to wind people up, point at them and snipe, start the most weedy beefs and generally get up people’s noses. Well, he’s a changed man because he’s decided that he’s going to be a nice person from now on.
So what’s brought this on? Well, the celebrity blogger wants to change in light of the suicide of US university student Tyler Clementi who was a victim of cyberbullying. Of course, Perez Hilton has been accused of bullying people online, and so, he’s decided that he’s now in the hugging business, rather than the bugging business.
And it won’t last long.
Of course, this has forced hecklerspray to take a good look at itself and, after a brief moment of reflection, we’ve decided that we’re going to be even nastier to absolutely everyone. To be quite honest, without our coping mechanisms, we’d fall to pieces and every single article we publish would be a snot-nosed, tear-fuelled cry for help.
We think you prefer the vindictive type of cry for help.
Anyway, Perez says:
“I’ve been doing everything I can to bring awareness to the issue of teen suicide and gay bullying… a lot of people have called me a hypocrite and a bully myself. That’s not how I want to be perceived.”
“I want to be part of the solution… I’m going to do things differently on my website than I have in the past.”
“I’m not going to call people nasty nicknames. I’m not going to go the mean route.”
Of course, what happened with Clementi, (who jumped off the George Washington Bridge in September when his classmates posted a live stream of him having sex with another man online) was appalling and astonishingly sad. In fact, it was one of the saddest stories to hit the press in recent memory.
However,we don’t take the piss out of people for being their sexuality so we’re alright. We attack people for their talents. Or, more importantly, poke fun at the canonisation of famous people. That’s right, we’re attacking you, dear reader.
And now, it seems Perez is a sitting duck and there’ll be a number of people queuing up to give him a kick in the seat of his pants while he’s playing papargandhi.
Anyway, you don’t give a hoot what we think, so why not watch the video of Perez bleeding his heart all over his computer and promising to be a good boy from now on.
We’ll give him 6 months before he starts slagging people off and outing people again.
