Let’s set the scene: you work at Entertainment Tonight. It’s a typical Thursday afternoon, not much is happening. Snooki is talking about losing her V-card, Beyonce is wearing a hoodie, there’s probably some kind of bikini-related slideshow to be made. Then the phone rings. Paris Jackson has been rushed to hospital after an apparent suicide attempt.?
This is serious business. You’re going to have to flex your journalism muscles to make sure that this story is reported in the most sensitive manner possible. The phone rings again. A source that is ‘close to the family’ is telling you that the reason Paris tried to kill herself is that she went into a massive tantrum after she was told that she wasn’t allowed to go and see ?Marilyn Manson in concert. How quickly do you roll your eyes and slam the phone down?
Well, you work at ET, so naturally you don’t care how dumb the rumour is, you print it anyway. You even get to slap a great big ‘exclusive’ sticker on it! ?Plus, it’s a much more controversial to involve someone else in the public eye than the chalk it down to the obvious ‘She lost her dad at a young age and she’s been in the public eye since she came out of the womb’ reason that everyone else keeps peddling.
LA County Fire have confirmed that they received a call about an overdose at 1.15 am, and that Jacko’s 15-year old daughter was transported to an LA hospital. Her mom, Debbie Rowe, has told Entertainment Tonight that her daughter has “a lot going on”. That might be a bit of an understatement – it’s four years since her dad passed away, and she’s being called on as a potential witness in a huge lawsuit by the Jackson family against the people who promoted Michael’s ‘This Is It’ tour.
People have also been combing through the teenager’s Instagram and Twitter account with a fine-tooth comb looking for potential warning signs that Paris was feeling down. So far, there have been photos that show faint scars on her wrists (none that look recent) and ?several typically emotional tweets referencing the Beatle’s ‘Yesterday’.
Paris is said to be doing OK under the circumstances, so here’s hoping she gets the help she needs. The Jackson family have had a rough few years, the kid could do with a few years of normality.
mony says
Here is hoping she gets the rest she needs. Here is hoping all of you haters and “helpers” get a life and leave her alone. Here is hoping that Debbie gets all the facts before she punishes the person who was standing up for Paris’s rights on the internet. Here is hoping she becomes her hearts desire.
