Award ceremonies always guarantee a couple of moments that are repeated at every single show. Hilariously, there's always the point when losing nominees have to graciously smile and clap, despite wanting to publically declare that the winner is nothing but muck on their shoe. Then when excessive alcohol bingeing kicks in, someone will make a slurred git of themselves.
Music ceremonies also signal the weird collaborations of two artists who normally wouldn't dream of working together. Think of it in the same way as when making a sandwich. The humble BLT is a safe and classic option. Slipping in something different to improve it probably wouldn't work, such as barbed wire or a bar of chocolate.
What we're saying is that musical collaborations can usually be hailed as a spark of genius, or an utter mess. Rumours are circulating that Muse and Lady Gaga plan to combine forces. Uh-oh.
Muse and Lady Gaga are artists at total opposite sides of the musical spectrum. On the left, you Muse who pump out non-adventurous stadium sized rock turds without any hint of stepping outside the safety of the bubble that has strangely made them successful. Watching them play, it seems that the band sometimes can't be bothered and to be frank, they’re like watching wobbling bags of tramp puke.
On the right, we have Lady Gaga who is one of the most daring and successful artists to come along in years. People might slag her off as an individual who sells based on her shock factor, but seeing she writes her own songs, plays piano and guitar, there isn't really much difference between her and Muse frontman Matt Bellamy.
Well, there is actually, she appears to actively engage the people around her and entertain at the same time. As per usual, organisers of country & western award ceremony The Grammies have denied the possible collaboration, but Bellamy has spoken of his admiration for Lady Gaga in the past, telling radio station Triple J:
?I love her music. I think she’s an absolutely superb artist and I love the way she dresses. I really like her. I think she’s a great artist!”
Or what he really means. ?I think her music is better than ours. I think she is a much better artist than us. I love the way she dresses so much that I got a suit made of carrots. I love her. I think she is much better than Muse because we are woeful.?
On the night of the 53rd Grammy Awards that are due to be broadcast on February 13th, Lady Gaga is due to perform her single ?Born This Way.? Due to the typical nature of her stage performances, we assume She'll sing the song inside a giant womb before breaking out of a rhinstone vagina. Or following the recent trend of female musicians to crossover in to the electronic world, Lady Gaga will do a Britney Spears. Not via the dubstep route, but with a four minute 150bmp treat of ear shattering breakcore with hints of gabber. (Pleeeease).
Whatever the outcome of any performance, we just want Muse frontman Matt Bellamy to actually smile and look like he's having fun. Most of the time he appears to have the expression of a man who accidentally caught his penis in his zip. Not that he needs it. He spends most of his time wanking with his guitar.

you obviously have never seen Muse play a single live show in your life. This whole article is just some pseudo-professional’s work of boasting about one of their favorite artists.
Muse is the best live band in the world at the moment. They receive awards for it all the time. However, they still choose to keep their ticket prices low. No, it’s not because they “suck”, it’s because they care about their fans
I want to see Lady Gaga play live, but she’s pulling the Barbera Streisand move. She’s pricing her tickets as high as possible. She is so talented, but she’s in it for the money. Everyone around the world who has seen Muse live has either turned out to love them(after hating them, like I used to), or love them more. If it’s one thing that Muse taught me, it’s to recognize the musical genius in every artist that has the talent..And that means being open enough to listen to everyone. You’re a closed minded fool and shouldn’t be writing articles about music. Only people who are knowledgeable should be doing that.

Ummm, no one take this article seriously, it is ABSOLUTELY biased and does not have accurate information. First, Muse is one of the most remarkable and unique rock-inspired bands to emerge in pop culture as of late, and their progress is obvious if you new SHIT about them. Second, I love lady gaga and she is a gifted classical PIANIST..but she does not play the fucking guitar… :/ Get your facts straight dude.
Nathan says
Wow, looking at the comments, it would appear that the whole Muse fan club are here today. Conches.

You obviously don’t know muse AT ALL. Your article is far from being “supercool”.
Fila says
Haha! One more “masterpiece” article from this author. Keep up your jealousy it’s very aMUSing xDDDD

As a fan of sandwiches, I do hope that a couple of these Muse characters come dressed as slices of yummy artisan sourdough to compliment a meaty Gaga. A little bit of mustard, or mayonnaise and wood-fired baguettes (role the puns!) if you want to get all continental about it, and we’ll be treated to a highly consumable show. Being an American production, however, we are likely to be disappointed when two halves of nondescript white-bread bun embrace a singing Oscar Meyer wiener, literally or otherwise.
Do concert ticket prices respect the principle of supply and demand?

Ah, right…maybe Muse just needs to take a 20-year break, or grow-out their bangs a bit (they can do wonders with implants these days).

Who wrote this article ? Surely nobody who knows a thing about music.
It is one of the worst I ever read. Nothing is correct ore true.
Muse are musical geniuses, and anybody who cares about real music knows that.
And in spite I am a rock fan, I respect what Lady Gaga does .
I Love Muse says
but I lol’d
I can appreciate an insulting article on my favorite band because most of it is half true. But I love Gaga too and would love to see them together!
Pom says
I don’t know whether to laugh, punch my screen or cry because I feel so bad for whoever wrote this. I’m not even going to tell you to watch a video of Muse performing for once, because I’m going to be “reasonable” and decide it’s all a matter of taste. Yes, taste. (Bad taste vs. Good taste, or maybe close-minded taste vs. open-minded taste?)
Michael says
This is an awful article, your clearly a big Lady Gaga fan but your analysis of Muse is completely wrong. I think your translation of the quote said about Lady Gaga is hilariously one sided and sounds like she is some sort of God to you, also you saying Muse pump out un-adventurous music is like saying Beyonce is a an ugly bitch with a saggy ass; a terrible observation on a fantastic talented group who are all, like Gaga great live.
Stephan says
Couldn’t agree more mate!
Thomas says
Lady GaGa can do one thing for sure and that’s put on a show, Muse on the other hand can do two things…put on a show and actually sing. I have been to Muse and GaGa live, and I hate to tell you this but…Muse smokes Gaga dude.
Try listening to music that isn’t mainstream pop culture, get your facts straight…you’re an idiot. Let me guess your playlist, Lady GaGa, Kesha, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga, Kesha, Lady Gaga, Katy Perry…haha what a loser trying to write articles about music when he has no clue about it himself. Take yourself away from the top 40 list and try branching out to some other genre’s…
Ruby says
Wow, I honestly thought that I was going to read about a possible collaboration between Muse and Lady Gaga but this is just awful! It seems as if the writer is more concerned over bashing Muse. I agree with the other reviewers here: this is a completely biased–but then again I am a huge Muse and would choose them any day over Lady Gaga. I know everyone is entitled to their opinion but really? There is a professional way to state your opinion and this is not it.
ravenfan says
wow. just WOW. how ignorant can one unprofessional and irrational author be? Muse and Lady Gaga are equally amazing in what they do. the ONLY (and i MEAN ONLY) thing this article got right was that they are on “opposite sides of the musical spectrum”, but neither of them are better than the other. the other two comments before mine got this pretty straight on so i wont go too much further into your stupidity other than: it would be absolutely AWESOME if Muse and Lady Gaga had the honor of playing together. it would be history made in my book. :)
Vee says
OMG! This article had me laughing so much I almost hurt myself! Matthew, dear, you are tres amusing and I’m sure talking bollocks sells you lots of column inches. However, take my word for it, you don’t have to continue talking bollocks forever. I’m sure that when you grow up you too can learn to appreciate superb musicionship when you encounter it. Of course, I’m assuming you possess a minimum level of intelligence. Ooops, sorry, my bad.
Muse best - what?! says
“Muse is the best band live”…….only if you are deaf and wearing blinders.
Lady Gaga and classical anything are two words that simply should not be put together at any time.
Both of them are so lame or just plain stupid that even dogs piss on their cd’s.
Ach says
100% agree with Chris.
You’re a douche.

Alright. They “pump out non-adventurous stadium sized rock turds without any hint of stepping outside the safety of the bubble that has strangely made them successful”.. Really? Can you tell me the last time a rock band has composed and recorded a three-piece, 13 minute symphony. A fucking symphony. That is innovative. That is daring. That is genius. That is something Lady Gaga does not have the guts to do, despite her talent.
Oh, am I’m sure Matthew Bellamy is thinking to himself, “We are woeful,” as Muse headlines festivals (festivals with upwards of 100,000 people watching) all over the world. From Glastonbury in England, to Rock AM in England, to Coachella in California. Has Lady Gaga ever headlined one of these? Or sold out 4 concerts in WEMBLY STADIUM? No, I don’t think so. And I don’t think she ever will.
It all boils down to this – You clearly know absolutely nothing about music, otherwise you would be able to see the greatness known simply as MUSE.
“You will burn. You will burn in hell for your sins.” – Matthew James Bellamy.
(And well said, Zoe and Chris.)

Matthew Laidlow, you my friend are the one that is dropping a big giant media turd with this article. This website/company made an awful decision at hiring you because its obvious you know absolutely nothing about the music industry. Muse quite possibly could be the most popular band worldwide right now. Take a look at what they have accomplished…won best live act from 2004 to 2007. MTV video music awards gave them the award for best special effects in 2010, did Lady Gaga win that at all? Nope. Just take a look at all these awards Muse has won: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_awards_and_nominations_received_by_Muse
You know jack shit about musical talent and prancing around and praising Lady Gaga on this, did you happen to see a modernized musical act during the Super Bowl yesterday?? If Muse were to play the Halftime Show in the near future, I can almost guarantee it would end up being one of the best ones of all time because Lady Gaga is just a bunch of overrated pop garbage
Stephen says
I don’t think there’s any way in the world that this article could be considered valid. You are obviously extremely biased, and to that I say to each his own. I happen to love Muse, but that’s not worth much mentioning, because you don’t have to love Muse to recognize that they are one of the most popular, most successful, and most engaging bands of our generation. In a world ruled by synthetic music and auto tune, the fact that this collaboration of real musical geniuses can create real music that is loved worldwide screams success at the top of its lungs. If you don’t want to take my word for it, just take a look at all the awards they’ve received, including being nominated for Best International Band by the Grammy’s. Not to mention that they sell out venues worldwide. Therefore, to say what you’ve said about them based on your (wrong) opinion is just immature and makes you look incredibly dumb.
On a side note, Lady Gaga is a very talented singer and pianist. She does not play guitar. At least, she’s not known for it. If you’re going to rip on a band unnecessarily, you should get your facts straight. This is a pathetic excuse for an article.

Yeah man, muse are a real lame act to see live…

First off let me say I’m 49 years old and have been to dozens of great concerts in my life. I heard a 5 scond blurb of Knights of Cydonia from my teen sons room and asked “who’s that?” I had him download ALL of the albums on my Iphone. We saw them open for U2 at Giant stadium and I was amazed and hooked! I’ve since them seen them 5 more times! At MSG, Td Gardens in Boston, N.C. L.I., Prudential center, NJ, and even drove 8 1/2 hours to VA. My 13 year old daughter is a total MUSER. Seeing them do “citizen’s erased” at Prudential was the BEST concert experience of my life. I took my daughter to see Lady Gaga at Radio city and was blown away. I saw her again in July at MSG and she was amazing. Seeing Muse and Lady Gaga together would be EPIC. Matthew Bellamy is brilliant. The band does care for their fans and their ticket prices are very affordable and their performances are an experience to remember forever. I am traveling to the UK in July and would love to see them again. In any case, I will attend every MUSE concert that I can drive to. Very excited about the possibility of Muse and Lady Gaga together!
Sandy Wiegman says
I agree. Muse is the best rock band to come along since Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. They are absolutely the best live band I’ve ever seen!

You’re a fucking idiot. Lady Gaga isn’t near Muse on any level. Muse is the best band in the world right now, and the best live band in the world right now. Stop spouting bullshit before you even hear a Muse song.
