More Harry Potter Books Probably A Bit Inevitable: JK Rowling

Digg this!

Harry Potter Petition JK Rowling Write More Books Deathly HallowsHarry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is published in less than a fortnight, and it's going to be the last you ever hear from Harry Potter, at least until JK Rowling decides to write another one in a few years, which even she thinks she might.

Thanks to all kinds of people not quite realising that there are millions of other books in the world that aren't about Harry Potter, a petition has been set up to urge JK Rowling to continue writing Harry Potter books after the publication of Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows. And, responding to the petition, JK Rowling has said "never say never." Thing is, though, isn't Harry Potter supposed to die after a climactic fight with Lord Voldemort at the end of Deathly Hallows? Where is the Harry Potter story supposed to go after that? We can think of a direction, and we promise to add our names to the petition if there's even a sniff of JK Rowling announcing a new Flesh-Eating Zombie Harry Potter book.

Saying goodbye to a beloved character can be tough, especially if – like Tony Soprano – they just eff off before you can work out what's going on. But the ending to the final Harry Potter book Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows almost definitely won't feature any Journey songs suddenly cutting to black, and so is slightly more anticipated.

With just 11 days to go until Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows is published, the whole world is going over any Harry Potter related facts it can with a fine-tooth comb to try and work out how it ends. Some say that Harry Potter will die, others say that Hermione will die, others say that Harry Potter will kung-fu Voldemort to death, while the rest of us are just counting down the days until all this Harry Potter flap has blown over so we can go a single day without hearing the word 'muggle' for once. But despite all the anticipation over the end of the Harry Potter story, a growing number of fans have signed a petition demanding that it can't be the end, as the Washington Post reports:

Thousands of Harry Potter fans have signed a petition urging J.K. Rowling to keep writing novels about the boy wizard after she admitted she could "never say never" to more books. The "Save Harry!" petition calls on Rowling to reverse her decision to end the bestselling series with the seventh and final instalment, "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." "Millions, perhaps billions of us, love reading his adventures and we never want them to end," says the online petition, launched on Monday at www.saveharrypotter.co.uk.

The petition mentions that Sherlock Holmes has come back from the dead before, so reviving Harry Potter should be an easy enough task, too. A recent study also found that 85% of all 8-11 year-old children also want JK Rowling to continue writing Harry Potter books, even though 85% of 8-11 year-old children would probably blowtorch their own faces off if you offered them a packet of Haribo in return. Anyway, once the petition reaches one million signatures it'll be presented to Harry Potter publisher Bloomsbury, which probably wants more Harry Potter books more than anyone else because that's where it gets all its money from.

But whether or not there will be any more Harry Potter books rests solely with JK Rowling. She's already saif that finishing Harry Potter made her cry like a fool, so she might be tempted to return – but on the other hand going back after promising to only write seven Harry Potter books will be a major knock to her artistic integrity. So who knows.

But regardless of JK Rowling writing new books, deep down Harry Potter will always continue to live on, so long as all of his fans hold him closely in their hearts and never stop believing in him. Well, that and paying over-the-top prices to spend tedious days surrounded by braying wankers at the tacky-sounding Harry Potter theme-park, of course.
