Miley Cyrus – named Maxim’s Number 1 Hottest Woman – ?released her much anticipated debut single ‘We Can’t Stop’ after a three year hiatus from music. After listening to her collaboration on Snoop Lion’s track ‘Ashtrays and Heartbreaks’ it’s pretty much what I expected. Except with a little added coke and ecstasy.
Miley’s ‘Smiler’ fans who stopped twerkin’ for a few minutes to have a listen may have been disappointed at the blandness of her new sound. Considering Miley’s ass was used as the primary means of promotion for the debut with much twerkin’ and much tweetin’, some may have been expecting an energetic club banger worthy of a four minute ass shake. Even more so as the lyrics suggest that this is essentially ‘Party In The USA’ part two. However through the lazy haze of predictable beats it falls flat at a pretty solid ‘Meh’.
The only shock factor comes with the lyric
‘And everyone in line in the bathroom / Trying to get a line in the bathroom’
in reference to snorting a line of cocaine.?Classy as ever. That’ll make for an excellent music video scene; may as well go the whole hog when courting controversy.?There is even a lyric that sounds suspiciously like
‘Dancing with molly’ (ecstasy)
although it remains to be seen whether she is actually singing ‘Dancing with Miley’. It personally sounds like ‘Molly’ to my cynical self. No big deal … she only has all of 12 million followers. ?Mainly impressionable youngsters.
She even pulls a Rihanna and sings,
”To my home girls here with the big butts / Shaking it like we at a strip club’.
Does Miley genuinely think her fans are old enough to have experienced a strip club?
Well I have officially never felt like such a Grandma, but surprisingly this doesn’t make me want to grab a pillow to weep into and mourn the loss of my youth. I’m sure Miley’s young and hip fans will download ‘We Cant Stop’ and make it a summer anthem even if they can’t bring themselves to admit it’s a bore fest.

It’s okay that I hate her, right?
