Michael Jackson has apparently bought a $1.5 million plot on a Bond villain-style man-made island in Bahrain, which he will make his permanent home.
It’s unknown if Michael Jackson has chosen to make Bahrain his home because he wants to escape the harsh scrutiny of the American media in the fall-out from his child-molestation case, or just because he wanted to cheese it away from all those freaky dove-releasing nutters that follow him about and stuff.
Michael Jackson (CDs) no longer considers himself to be an American
citizen. His lawyer Tom Mesereau has already told reporters that
Michael is "permanently living abroad." So it’s no surprise that
Jackson has splashed out $1.5 million on a quarter-acre, two villa plot
of land on one of Bahrain’s man-made Amwaj Islands, where he can hide
away and raise his children.
The Amwaj Islands are a luxury development containing top class
restaurants, canals, parks, golf courses, hospitals and a lovely zoo
for Michael Jackson to walk around thinking about charities that he can
tardily write and release songs for.
After being cleared of his molestation charges, Michael Jackson was
invited to live in Bahrain by the country’s royal family. And since
then – while interspersing his time with screaming, mob-filled visits
to London – Jackson has made Bahrain his new home. It’s thought that
this choice was made partly because locals in Bahrain still see him as
the all-conquering megastar who turned into a car in that film he did
with Joe Pesci, and not just a creepy old man. The New York Post quoted a
Bahrain resident as saying:
"It’s still the music people know, that’s how people here know Michael Jackson."
But
Michael Jackson can’t just expect to be given a Bahrain citizenship
just like that. He’ll have to work hard at it, according to Rashid bin Abdulrahman al Khalifa, who works in the Bahrain Ministry of Information:
"Citizenship is not easy to get here in Bahrain, even
for Michael Jackson. He is not a visitor [and may stay indefinitely] as
long as he owns property here."
