According to his website, it was a day that ranked alongside the birth of Martin Luther King, the fall of the Berlin Wall and Nelson Mandela’s release. According to us, it was a day when a weird woman kept taking birds out of a box outside a courtroom.
We’re talking, of course, about the day in June that Michael Jackson was found innocent of child molestation. But now some of his jurors are planning books claiming that they think Michael Jackson was guilty.
Eleanor Cook and Ray Hultman are both planning to write books about
their experiences during the Jackson trial. Hultman will call his book
The Deliberator while Cook has chosen the slightly more controversial
name Guilty As Sin, Free As A Bird.
"These books are going to rock the nation, Elly and Ray are two of
the three jurors
who (initially) voted for ‘guilty’," said Larry Garrison, head of
Silver Creek Entertainment – the company who will publish both books and
produce a movie about the trial.
After the trial, Ray Hultman made his feelings on Jackson partially
clear to the media. He told the Associated Press that although he
believed Michael was innocent of those specific charges, he "probably
has molested boys at some point".
Cook’s viewpoint has been – up until now – a bit more vague.
Immediately after the trial, she fervently supported the verdict, but
later said "we had our suspicions, but we couldn’t judge on that because it wasn’t what we were there to do".
According to the New York Daily News,
the process of forming a verdict was full of all kinds of misconduct.
The publication claims that author Stacy Brown was approached by both Cook and
Hultman about co-writing the books, and in the meetings he had with
them, he supposedly learnt that Cook sometimes consulted with Michael
Jackson’s mother about what clothes to wear so they didn’t clash, and
that Cook and Mrs Jackson have spoken on the telephone since the
verdict.
Brown also claims that three of the female jurors were
such ferocious Michael Jackson fans that during discussions of his
felony charges, they argued "Not my Michael…".
Do the jury
really believe that Michael Jackson was guilty of his charges, or are
they just making a lot of noise so that people buy their books and make
them rich? Leave your comments below.
