Katy Perry’s Parents Aren’t Impressed, and Homosexuals Hate Her Too

Digg this!

katy perry homosexual parents controversy homophobic misquoted amy winehouse christian godKaty Perry once kissed a girl and she liked it, if her personal reports are to be believed.

Though when we have a confession to make we don’t normally make a literal song and dance about it, we can accept that this is the modern age and those youngsters do things differently. But according to some sources, Katy Perry’s parents don’t see it that way, and have registered their disgust at their daughter’s activities and apparent sexual escapades.

Then we find out that Katy thinks her parents were misquoted, and that they are fully supportive of her career. But which is it, Katy - which is it?! Are you a libertine whose parents don’t like you? Are you a mental and a Christian (peas in a pod) who likes the lesbians and has supportive parents?

We need to know.

But it’s all gone and turned into a big pile of confusion, with reports and counter-reports flying in left, right and centre. If we were cynical, we might assume this was the work of some marketing twit who was out to make a bit of a splash with the Perry name.

But of course, we’re not that cynical.

Reports that Katy Perry’s parents hate what she does came about from the greatest newspaper in the world, the Daily Mail, which in between saying videogames cause all the ills in the world ever, managed to fit some other words in. Namely, Katy’s mum saying:

“Katy knows how I feel. We are a very outspoken family and she knows how disappointed her father and I are. I can’t even listen to that song. The first time I heard it I was in total shock. When it comes on the radio I bow my head and pray. I hate the song. It clearly promotes homosexuality and its message is shameful and disgusting.”

Now we understand it’s a bad song, but is there any real need to get God involved in matters? We mean, he might use his ultra-powers to blow up the radio or something, but you could just forget about bothering him, turn the radio off and go do something else. He probably has enough to worry about, the poor little blighter.

Katy’s mama went on – probably while between bouts of praying for God to change channel on her TV:

“Katy was raised in a very strict Christian household, she started performing in church at nine. She was a special child; she loved to sing and had an angelic voice. That is why this is all so disappointing and sad.”

It must be terribly disappointing to have a daughter who is a worldwide star – really quite bad. But mummy wasn’t finished there, and she went on with even more words falling out of her gob:

“Katy is not a homosexual but I fear she has been led astray by the Hollywood crowd. Katy was spotted by a music producer, who invited her to L.A. That’s when she started to change. I was worried she’d start doing drugs and drinking alcohol. I still am. I spoke to her only recently. She said, ‘Oh Mom, I’m not going to turn into Amy Winehouse.’”

We do think if Perry were to turn into Winehouse MKII that would be enough to test anybody’s faith, regardless of how devout they were. As we all know, Amy Winehouse is proof there is no God.

But Katy Perry wasn’t about to sit still listening to mother dearest’s apparent rampant claims, and quickly jumped to the defence of her parents. In an interview with MTV, Perry used some words – in a similar way to how her mother did:

“I’m sure they opt out of singing ‘I Kissed a Girl’ or ‘Ur So Gay’, but they’re singing along to every other song on the record. They’re just glad I’m not strung out, doing centrefolds and s**t like that.”

They’re probably not going to be made that much prouder by you swearing now, are they? Oh well, at least that clears that one up. A bit.

But what about the claims that Katy’s track UR So Gay is homophobic and I Kissed a Girl is patronising to the gay community?

Well, what better way to win over fans than to make a sweeping generalisation, in which you assert that all people of a certain sexual preference have exactly the same personalities? There isn’t a better way, it would seem, with Perry stating:

“I think gay people have a wonderful sense of humour.”

She did go on, mind, carrying on about UR So Gay:

“I think they’ll get it and embrace it. It’s an anthem for power of the people – for females, gays, exes, anybody who’s been broken up with that wants to get over a guy.”

Well – that clears that one up. And here we were hoping she’d stir up that bit more controversy to help fuel her career, seeing as that’s all it’s been going on so far.

It’s certainly not talent that’s been pushing it.

God I hope she stabbed her eye out during that photo shoot.

  • Me says:

I resent your comment “Are you a mental and a Christian (peas in a pod)….” Not everybody who is a Christian is so extreme that they can be considered a “mental.” Those that are both should live in a commune if they don’t already & are “spoon fed” their beliefs. They don’t have enough sense to research what’s being taught to them to know if it’s the truth or not. So shame on you for being so stereotypical!

    • Booopily says:

Those who do not wishes not to be judges should not judge. Blame your damn Christian friends for thinkin all gays are these retarded pussy faggits and that they can be changed it they pray or some shit. Your sexuality is mostly determined by GENES. It’s been scientifically proven and is commonly found in families with multiple male offspring.

  • Moosie says:

I really resent the author’s dialogue about God. I feel sorry for you. Don’t bother with the excuse that it is just journalism. Hopefully you will have a spiritual awakening before its too late.

  • concern says:

Lets play a game of snakes and ladders, consider the choices we make as the dice. Sometimes we make the wrong choices and end up on the snakes head and we go down, down, down… In most cases we don’t realize that we’re going down it feels like a joy ride going down the snakes belly, but once we start walking around below, we start realizing we are in bad company and don’t know how to get out of it… So we start making more choices; we can either admit we made a mistake or we can continue making the wrong decisions. We have but one game(life) before it is “Game Over”. There is so much talk of “choice” these days asif we have limitless games to play (lives to live) and very little is said about the end of our decisions. And when we as christians (those who truely live what they preach to others) point out the dangers of certain decisions, we are labeled… It is out of love and true concern for the well being of others that we say what we say, it is not because we want to start a fight. Some of us have also made those wrong decisions and have dedicated our lives to help those who wants to get out of the Snakes belly…

  • Willy says:

This isn’t about being gay, straight or otherwise, it’s controversy, and we all know controversial topics, lyrics, whatever will sell records, ask toothpicks for arms Madonna about that..

  • Craig Huizenga says:

Ian, I will pray for you. You obviously don’t get the concept of God but you will. By then it will be too late. It’s a very small thing you do here on Earth. Nothing you say or write will ever matter.

  • gir says:

    Hahahah fuck you all.

  • Sarah says:

I want to have a spiritual awakening while playing snakes and ladders and making out with chicks.

  • Melodie says:

Who knew so many devout Christians were Hecklerspray fans? Doesn’t the whole “this famous person has had a run of bad luck–let’s all point and laugh!” aspect of entertainment gossip kind of conflict with your beliefs..?

  • Jackie-o says:

Ok, so Katy’s parents are repressed and narrow-minded individuals. I can see this already if those are true quotes from them and they are to be believed and not just media fodder or whatnot.

Where is the proof that the gays hate her? I love her and I’m a queer, proud bisexual. I love the song I kissed a girl. No I don’t think of it as an anthem for me though, but it’s a cool song that’s basically saying it’s ok to experiment and wanting to do so is not a bad or disgusting thing, and also no, experimenting does not automatically make you gay either.

And the song ‘ur so gay’ is a hilarious break up song about a metrosexual boyfriend who is just a stuck up snobby type and way to into himself to have a girlfriend…..or boyfriend, ….or pet…….or a houseplant, lol.

    And no, not all Christians are mental (I have enough Christian friends to figure that out myself) but boy, give them a forum so they can have a chance to try to prove you wrong and…..they don’t. Don’t get me wrong I love long as hell allegory’s of snakes and ladders, but, what choices exactly are we talking about or insinuating about? I would really love to know -_-;

But still I would agree with ‘me’ up there and saying shame on you for your sweeping generalizations that you then accuse Mrs.Perry of. It’s not everyday I get to see a showing of hypocrisy within 30 second time periods. Bravo.

  • concern says:

Hi there Jackie O; I must say it’s a pleasure to make your acquaintance. It seems like you are quite an openminded person and tha you can debate without using names to gun Christians down when you don’t uderstand something but that you could come to the point and ask me exactly what I was talking about concerning the choices we make. Let me be brief, I was involved in drugs(a real junky) amongst other things and I have made some bad choices and it is clear that I know what it is to be on the other side where the grass seems to be greener. As a young teenager i was extreemly rebelious and told my mother that she should not preach to me because it is my life and if there are any lessons to be learned i will learn it and if it means that i will have to bump my head then i will do so but”DONT TELL ME WHAT I MUST DO.”So i ended up with bad people,i also just lived for today and did’t care about tomorrow.i just didn’t care unto the point that i ended up on the street and all my friends and family deserted me and the sweet grass that i thought was nice became bitter and filled with lonliness and allot of fear and oppression with allot of frustration. It must sound like quite a concoction of a witches brew… but i must say that is what it was… The state of my rebelion was so bad that i was prepared to venture into something worse than what i was in just because i wanted to do my own thing with no one to tell me what to do, in other words i didn’t want to be obedient. But it was because i was lonely without a true friend and that is why i want to tell others about Jesus because He knows what it is to be a human being and how it feels to be rejected by those He loved… One of the best teachers is experience and that is why older people want to tell others what else they could consider to do is because they made the mistake themselves and wants to warn others… It is not that i want to be judgeMENTAL…

Nothig any of us says or does will ever matter Craig. We are the least significant members of an insignificant species on a small planet somewhere in a vast, uncaring universe. Stop worrying and have some fun, for fuck’s sake.

And Concern, why not just fuck off and mind your own business if people don’t appreciate you hectoring them for their sinfulness? The annoying thing about god-botherers is that they are all such po-faced proselitysing gits. I’ve never seen hindus, for instance, shouting at people in the street about the evils of Darwinism/having sex/going to the pub/not being EXACTLY LIKE THEM/etc etc, nor Jews, Shintoists, Bhuddists, Muslims – I could go on.

However, EVERY saturday, I can expect to be harassed in the street by a bad-tempered christian waving a bible and telling me abortions are bad, science is wrong and fun of every kind is wicked. Why? Because you’re all a bunch of miserable, annoying arseholes. What you need to do my dear fellow, is take some ecstasy and get laid.

  • euclid says:

    Christian FundaMENTALists. There you are.
Being completely MENTAL is a big part of the Jesus gag.
I especially enjoy having some jumped-up snot
compare allegedly important spiritual matters to a children’s game.
That’s what Christianity in its current incarnation is: a children’s game.
Simpletons. You are terrified by doubt and thus reality averse.
That’s not child-like that’s childish. Fine. Just stop bothering the adults.

  • Georgia says:

Sorry, Gil- but you’re wrong about the Muslims- read the Koran… they may not “yell” at the infidels (or maybe they do-) but we all know they like to blow things up… especially people. I’m sure they don’t all subscribe to every facet of their faith- like most christians- but before we go talking about mental christians- we musn’t forget the mental muslims.

  • Gilbert Wham says:

Or, the racist fuckwits (you). I read that as ‘I don’t like brown people ‘cos of what I seen on the telly’. Are you american perchance?
Like I said, I’ve never been harassed by a muslim (there are 3 or 4 well-meaning chaps who try & explain that they’re not all bad really hanging out on a saturday, but they don’t get much notice taken of them unfortunately). Christians? Every. Fucking. Day. And I’ll stake my life on the fact that you’ve never read one page of the Koran.

  • gir says:

I don’t like brown people either, but it’s mostly because they turn out to be just as idiotic as the yellow white and red people.

  • brooke says:

we all love to discuss and figure things out. why this or why that. it all comes down to one thing.

    socialization.

why we think this or that. and if one steps out of the mold of their own social environment, some canNOT understand because those of them who didn’t step out decided to just never THINK.

so props to those who stepped out of the mold.

  • euclid says:

I’ve been living in mold for many years now.
I started in moss, so warm and fuzzy but soon
found the upkeep beyond me. So it was an
easy step into mold. I don’t know why brooke
wants to give propellers to people who step
out of the mold. If she (?) ever tried living in it, she (?)
would discover that after some initial misgivings
about the smell (and sometimes stickiness) living
in mold is one of the most rewarding courageous
    choices an idiot can make.

  • brooke says:

    wow very not clever.

so you’re calling yourself an idiot.

  • gir says:

On the contrary, it was very clever. It also appears to have sailed right over the heads of the less complex thinkers in the crowd.

Aim a little lower next time, euclid. Think “adolescent girl” and shoot for the ankles.

  • THE G says:

Ok well nice to know that all the journalists were correct that Katy Perry raises a lot of controversy just scrolling down this web page i read just about everything from a life story to christian bashing and christian pride. but i will put my opinion out there just for the sake of opening some more conversations.

I don’t have any problem with songs about sexuality, empowerment and different lifestyles. It’s been a permanent dynamic of all music cultures since the first cave man that hummed. what i don’t like is when we have bad musicians that think that tweaking there sound with the same label that is behind Kelly Clarkson decide to glamorize experimentation when the largest demographic of her listeners are 7-12 year old kids. Katy even admitted it that she feels the song is vastly popular because the sound is so catchy and sticks to your head. I have two younger sisters and a youngest brother of 7 all three chorus the song word for word when it comes on the radio. to some people it might seem as harmless being that they are too young to actually understand what it is about (i truly believe that Katy wrote the song not understanding what she was saying) but ask yourself this would you let your kids listen “69″ or “blow my buzz” “you’s a hoe” “how many licks” by lil kim, All song of which I enjoy listening to as an adult but if it were playing on the radio and my sibs were int he car i would turn it off. But I seldom see that kind of restraint or awareness about Katy and her single…is it because the lyrics are tame? (no) then I imagine it’s cuz it has nothing more than a catchy sound rendering it less than a impressive shock song and nothing more than pleasing algorithms but in the end it’s going to give a lot of younger kids the wrong impression of what homosexuality is.

It’s not all just cute kisses under the blanket or experimentation and i can understand why so many in the gay community might be angry with it, growing up in SF California you learn a lot from the over exposure of GLBTS and the struggle that many young people had to go through in finding themselves and realizing their sexuality this song is almost like the girls gone wild tapes of college coeds kissing in the hotel room a patronizing illustration of what it means to fully explore ones sexuality, there a lot of homosexual musicians out there that sing about the same thing same topics why are they not signed on to major labels and played on the radio.

  • Sarah says:

THE G: Just what in god’s name are you trying to convey to us? The usefulness of the comma? That someone can write three paragraphs of garbled nonsense and still manage to say absolutely nothing at all?

  • Lil says:

An ‘anthem for the people’? Katy, you need to get over yourself and fast. Haven’t been on the scene 5 minutes and already you’ve got a swelled head.

    Oh, and? STFU. GTFO. Poser.

  • Ashleigh says:

    She is fucking ridiculous.
She is nothing. She will always be nothing.
If I were a lesbian (or bi) I would be fucking ashamed.
She clearly think she is being “edgy” when she’s just being sexist considering the fact that the song is about her only kissing a girl to turn her boyfriend on.
    I hope she dies
    I really really do

If I were her parents I would fucking lock the bitch up.

  • rachel says:

what annoys me more than her chronically awful lyrics, is the fact that gay clubs seem to insist on playing ‘I kissed a girl’ . . . i have to leave the dance floor every time and resist a strong urge to stab the DJ in the eye on my way.

she must be taking the piss with statements like ‘gay people have a wonderful sense of humour’ . . . insert any other minority into those songs and there would have been outrage.

GOD I HATE HER SO DAMN MUCH!!!! aaaagh… agh…

  • Marie says:

I actually like Katy. I think she’s pretty cool. I like the song I kissed a girl. I only wished it sounded more homosexual. Katy did something that nobody had the nerve to do which was to break the barrier between homosexuals and heterosexuals. In a way, she helped a lot of homophobic people relize there’s nothing wrong with being gay, and guided the homosexual people to realize that they could be more out with themselves and taht there’s nothing wrong with who they are. Thank you, Katy :)

  • Danielle says:

I think Katy has purpose. I keep having this thought pop up in my mind all the time. I don’t Care about the “homosexual” part of her music or anything. Whatever. Drop it. I’m in love with the creator of the earth and He forgives and forgets. That’s not a big deal. Yes, it can impact lives..but not forever. AND God can use people like Katy to REALLY rock this world. I pray He shows His love to her in amazing ways to get her attention. That’s all we can hope for.

  • Chiana says:

i find it annoying that “i kissed a girl” has caused another uprising in the ammount of girls that go out to mac on innocent lezzers for a single evening before deciding that they’re straight after all.

on the other hand, i do pull twice as many fit women now.

so irritating at katy perry is when she’s allowed to talk, if she is singing then i will be drinking, dancing, wondering where the next j is coming from and generally getting my gay on.

and i think that our big old imaginary friend in the sky will probably high five me for it in the after life.
if god is all knowing then he knows how to have a sense of humour right?

  • me says:

She’s just annoying. A shame she passed for musical talent. She’s not cute but has a nice face and maybe should just stick to taking pictures in various outrageous outfits because let’s face it, that’s why she’s famous. She could have that voice and look like a cow. The pin-up thing is not original and her voice is horrendous. I hate her song writing and if she’s a brit we all know she’ll eventually get fat if she eats like she’s supposed to. Then her undeserved 15 minutes will be up.
