Hugh Laurie is set to quit House. Can you cope? Will you break down and produce oceans of tears, wishing that he’d stick around to do his convincing American accent, with a side of kooky sideways glances and ill-advised blues albums?
So, when is this awful event going to take place? Well, Laurie plans to retire Dr. Gregory House when the eighth season concludes this summer.
That means you nutcase fans of the show have a few months of self-harm to get in while you digest this Earth crushing news before paving the way for a Houseless life where you’ll gradually concede that you didn’t like it all that much, rather, you enjoyed the fact a British actor managed to be a raging success in That America.
In an interview with Radio Times magazine, he said:
“The end of that season, right now looks like the end of the show. Well, that’s as far as they’ve got me for.”
Then, he can treat us all to his terrible Dad Boogie with his album Let Them Talk, which he’ll be taking on a tour of Europe this month.
‘The acting muscles don’t know what they’re doing, actually. Perhaps they should, but they don’t. There’s very little about this … I don’t know… maybe there’s a repetitive action in music – if you do your scales and your fingers are nimble, then there are certain things you just know you can do without too much difficulty.
“Acting for some reason isn’t like that. It doesn’t become automated in quite the same way.”
Anyone?
He continued:
“I never thought this would last seven years, just two weeks I thought. I get tired of getting up at four in the morning. Some days are harder than others.”
Diddums.
Michael says
I’ll be sad to see House go off the air, because it has been the one show I have consistently watched for many years. I have been mesmerized watching Hugh Laurie’s portrayal of Dr House and will miss seeing Hugh Laurie on the small screen.
