Halle Berry has been married a couple of times now, and both marriages have ended up failing spectacularly – so full credit to Halle Berry for realising that she's hopeless at marriage and deciding to give it up forever and ever.
Um. That's pretty much the bulk of the story really. Halle Berry has decided that two failed marriages are enough and – for no reason whatsoever – has told a magazine that she won't be getting married again so long as she lives, in case she ends up buggering another one of them up. We don't know why Halle Berry decided to say she doesn't want to get married again, since it's a bit like telling a magazine you're never going to eat carrots again or telling a magazine you're never going to say the word 'gizzard' again. Anyway, we're going to stretch this Halle Berry/ no marriage thing out for as long as we can – why don't you join us.
It takes a rare talent to go from winning a Best Actress Oscar to winning a Worst Actress Razzie in the space of three years, but that's exactly what Halle Berry is. Not content with just winning an Oscar, Halle Berry's career post-Monster's Ball has shown what a true range of acting skills she has – from being the most stereotypical black woman ever in Die Another Day to sort of standing around in the background wearing a wig and looking vaguely concerned in the X-Men films.
But sadly this extraordinarily high level of quality does not stretch to Halle Berry's personal life. In 1992 Halle Berry married a baseball player, only for that marriage to end when Halle discovered that baseball was a boring game for girls and children; and then in 2001 Halle Berry married Eric Benet, but they got divorced too – possibly because of Benet's sex addiction.
Following those broken marriages, love was something of a minefield for Halle Berry. She might have ended up with Radio 1 DJ Chris Moyles, were it not for Moyles shouting out the most racist thing he could think of in front of her during an interview. So Halle Berry decided to turn her back on love, only for love to rush up to Halle Berry in the form of model Gabriel Aubry and jab its tongue in her mouth. But even though Halle Berry is deeply in love with Gabriel Aubry, don't expect her to get married to him. Halle Berry told this to InStyle for no reason whatsoever:
"I will never, never get married again. I've come to a place now where I think two people can share their lives without the ring, without the piece of paper… After my relationship with actor Michael Ealy ended I was feeling like, well, it wasn't that I didn't want to be in a relationship, it's just that I thought it would be OK to be on my own. But he was disarmingly sweet and caring and different. In the past, I've been attracted to big personalities. Gabriel was shy. He hardly talked to me at first. I had to work at this a little. It wasn't a slam dunk, it wasn't the guy just showering affection on me. It made it more interesting. We were equally matched – put it that way."
We have a big soft spot for Halle Berry thanks to this. Not because she's been brave enough to publicly turn her back on marriage, or because she's fallen in love with a shy young man – but because she appears to have taken up referring to her ex-boyfriends like a newspaper would, by using their profession before their actual names. This is something we're praying catches on, because if it does we'll soon be hearing Uma Thurman talking about 'hotelier Andre Balazs' and Kevin Federline talking about 'Antichrist Britney Spears'.
