Here we go again with another dollop of UK 2005 Christmas Number One betting odds – all the information you’ll need on who to bet on with stolen Christmas Club money, just like naughty Arthur Fowler off Eastenders.
Christmas Number One Fact Of The Day: A member of one of the acts who have had a UK Christmas Number once told hecklerspray to "fuck off" when we were still at school. We won’t tell you who it was, but it wasn’t Elvis Presley. Or Mr Blobby.
Today we’ll be looking at the Christmas Number One betting odds chances of Chico Slimari, McFly, Kelly Clarkson, Katie Melua and Kylie Minogue, with help from SportingOdds.com…
Chico Slimari – We’d have loved to see Chico from X Factor to release a
single and try to reach the Christmas Number One spot. Mainly because
we know it would have been It’s Chico Time, the superhumanly inane song
he debuted on X Factor a few weeks ago. He could have even dressed up
the little dancing black kid as Santa or something. But Chico won’t be
trying to get to Christmas Number One – X Factor bosses have banned him
from releasing It’s Chico Time to make way for the X Factor winner. A
shame. Current Christmas Number One odds – 20/1
McFly – Aah, those cheeky McFly scamps; we hear that when they’re
not performing their pop-punk tunes, they’re busy scrumping apples from
the local farmer’s orchard. Their shot at the Christmas Number One will be a
double A-side of Ultraviolet and The Ballad Of Paul K – one side is a
usual blast of Busted-lite pop, the other is a sensible string drenched
ballad – the sort of thing that screams Christmas Number One. But the
competition is fierce at this time of year, and we think that McFly’s
Christmas Number One effort comes out one week too soon to be a real
contender. Current Christmas Number One odds – 33/1
Kelly Clarkson – For a short amount of time this year, we actually
quite liked Kelly Clarkson. Since U Been Gone was a jaunty, perky
little number, and we swallowed our pride enough to admit that, yeah,
Kelly Clarkson’s OK. Since then, though, she seems to have turned into
Bonnie Tyler. That is in no way a good thing at all. Her Christmas
Number One effort is entitled Because Of You, and is the usual soft
rock MOR nonsense that Kelly seems to enjoy knocking out these days. If
you think Because Of You sounds familiar, you’d be right – it came out a
month ago. So will it be Christmas Number One? What do you think?
Current Christmas Number One odds – 66/1
Katie Melua – Katie Melua, make no mistake, is lovely. Everything
she does is brilliant. Until she opens her mouth, that is. Her tiny
weeny wispy voice sends us into a narcoleptic coma every single time we
hear it. Katie’s trying the Christmas Number One double A-side trick
this year, too. One side is I Cried For You, a depressing-sounding
ballad, and the other side is a cover of Just Like Heaven. By The Cure.
From that film where a man has sex with a ghost. Thing is, though, the
single came out on Monday, so it doesn’t stand a chance of being
Christmas Number One. Current Christmas Number One odds – 80/1
Kylie Minogue – This is wishful thinking more than anything. Kylie
is currently very sick with cancer, so sick that she doesn’t even have
the energy to turn Little Britain off when someone makes her watch a
DVD of it. Last month, a DVD of Kylie’s Showgirl tour was released.
Perhaps people thought that a live single would be released to try and
get Kylie the Christmas Number One. Isn’t going to happen. Current
Christmas Number One odds – 80/1

Chris says
Kylie ‘Somewhere Over The Rainbow’ will be available to download online after Christmas Day. So yep obviously she won’t be no.1! Why not skip the starters and go straight to the main course. The real christmas contenders are Westlife Feat. Diana Ross ‘When You Tell Me That You Love Me’ Girls Aloud ‘See The Day’ and hopefully X-factor Shayne by whom are all managed by Louis Walsh. This yr lacks in gud novelty records, i think Eminem might take everyone by suprise and claim the Christmas no.1 spot with ‘When I’m Gone’.
