Last night Celebrity Fame Academy lost Linda Robson, officially the only Celebrity Fame Academy hopeful to have sung the theme-tune to a 1990s sitcom about two glum women with prisoners for husbands and a shrieking Jewish nympho neighbour.
For the second night on the trot, Linda Robson faced the Celebrity Fame Academy sing-out or song-off or survivo-bawl or whatever it's supposed to be called. And, really, she probably didn't deserve to be eliminated either – Linda Robson's Celebrity Fame Academy version of Crazy was her most in-tune yet, and far better than Angellica Bell's pitchless Madonna caterwauling. It's just a shame you're only allowed to vote off the Celebrity Fame Academy singers – because frankly Comic Relief would make a load more money if you could give Kielty the shove. Or Fringe-o The Co-Presenter. Or that awful Scottish judge for that matter…
Here's the final dollop of Celebrity Fame Academy betting odds for the week – for Colin Murray, Mel Giedroyc, Tricia Penrose and Shaun Williamson – with betting odds from the ever-wonderful Paddy Power…
Colin Murray – Colin Murray is the breakfast TV goon turned longterm John Peel replacement on BBC Radio One. And thanks to that, all we could think about during Celebrity Fame Academy on Saturday was "Would John Peel do this?" and undoubtedly he wouldn't. However, whether deliberate or not, Colin Murray chose to appease us by singing Teenage Kicks – John Peel's favourite song – on Saturday's Celebrity Fame Academy. And he didn't do too badly at it, either – Colin's gonkish lack of guile allowed him to throw himself around like a rag doll to the song, and that must've helped somehow, because it looks like Colin Murray is a Celebrity Fame Academy frontrunner, unless his sappy versions of Always On My Mind and Sweet Caroline put people off. Current Celebrity Fame Academy betting odds – 7/1
Mel Giedroyc – Although the name might not ring a bell, Mel Giedroyc is best-known for being half of the permanently studenty Mel And Sue comedy partnership, and half of the abysmal daytime Richard Hammond's Five O'Clock Show. But, boy oh boy, can Mel Giedroyc sing? We're only asking because the sight of Mel's freaky murderer's eyes during her Celebrity Fame Academy performance of 20th Century Boy scared us so much that we actually chopped off our ears and threw them in the blender. And then we did the same with our eyes when she started rolling around on the floor. Despite all this, though, the Celebrity Fame Academy judges loved her, she followed it up with a dodgy funk tune done bewilderingly well on Wednesday, and we think she'll do OK at this. Current Celebrity Fame Academy betting odds – 11/2
Tricia Penrose – We had a feeling that Tricia Penrose would be on one of these shows at some point, because the woman just bloody won't get it into her head that nobody likes her when she's singing. Although she's most famous for being the tarty barmaid on Heartbeat, Tricia Penrose also carries the weight of a billion failed musical careers around her neck. She's released two failed singles, never fails to sing on Heartbeat at the drop of a hat and – we promise we didn't have to fact-check this – failed to represent the UK in the 2002 Eurovision Song Contest with a cheesy dance number called DJ Romeo. And so to Celebrity Fame Academy, where Tricia Penrose sang an annoying version of Rescue Me while dressed as an extra from Anthony & Cleopatra and a versions of Best Till Last and What's Love Got To Do With It that couldn't have been more nauseating if she tried. If the public loved Tricia Penrose as much as Tricia Penrose loved Tricia Penrose, she'd walk Celebrity Fame Academy. But we get the feeling it doesn't. Current Celebrity Fame Academy betting odds – 5/2
Shaun Williamson – Shaun Williamson is Barry From Eastenders or, confusingly, Barry From Eastenders From Extras. Shaun's love of belting out pub karaoke standards is known to all – especially those who have seen him performing in one of the south east's finest chicken-in-a-basket cabaret clubs. On Celebrity Fame Academy on Saturday, Shaun Williamson performed Lately by Stevie Wonder in the style of a slowly decomposing corpse, but it didn't matter, because Shaun's voice won through enough for him to become the favourite to win Celebrity Fame Academy, and that was only consolidated with Wednesday's version of The Midnight Hour and yesterday's James Morrison wotsit. However, throughout his performances, all we can thing is "hairplugs hairplugs hairplugs hairplugs hairplugs hairplugs". That has nothing to do with anything, but we thought you might like to know anyway. Current Celebrity Fame Academy betting odds – 7/4
Next week – Unless this premium-rate telephone cock-up signals the end of televisual entertainment as we know it, Dancing On Ice betting odds. And more of this Celebrity Fame Academy nonsense too if you're lucky. But if that's too long to wait – or you feel like making more money than you know what to do with – head right over to the Paddy Power Celebrity Fame Academy betting odds page to see the latest, and best, betting odds.
