Remember Susan Sarandon calling Pope Benedict a Nazi? That was pretty funny wasn’t it? After all, he was a Nazi at one point. He was a massive, massive… well… tiny Nazi in the Hitler Youth. Of course, the Nazism is nothing compared to the whole Catholicism thing.
Of course, you can’t go around calling a Pope negative names and not expect some heat from those mass-loving lunatics.
So step right up Bill Donohue, leader of the Catholic League for Religious and Civil Rights to lay the holy smackdown! Probably in Latin too! Because Catholics are all completely mental and like responding to priests in a language they don’t understand! The cads!
Naturally, Catholics don’t believe in God enough to be confident in the fact that Himself will punish her come judgement day, so they have to run their righteous mouths off in a most unChristian fashion.
Donohue says:
“She’s a despicable person to make these kinds of despicable remarks!”
The elephant in the room, waddling behind this comment is the one that everyone is thinking right now, and that its a bit rich for an organisation from the Catholic church to call anyone’s actions ‘despicable’.
You’d have to be pretty dumb to fail to notice the horrific, systematic misdeeds carried out for centuries by Catholics in the name of Jeebus.
Wait. Donohue’s not finished.
“It is very hard to find someone dumber than [Sarandon].”
“He deserted the Hitler Youth at the first moment! She doesn’t know what she’s talking about…To blame him for something that he was never responsible for; he was forced to join as every boy his age was. Unlike the others, he deserted.”
Donohue said he won’t even seek an apology from the “hard-core leftist” actress because “she is ignorant and full of hatred to the Catholic Church.”
Yep. That’d be the organisation who believes in a celestial being getting a virgin preggo and, resultantly, causing millions of cases of child abuse and sexual molestation while helping African countries to riddle themselves with dreadful diseases because Jesus didn’t like rubbers.
We’ll stop there before a rant forms.
Follow hecklerspray on Twitter or join our Facebook group if anyone is still daft enough to use it
Emma says
“African countries ” are not catholic or Christian. Hide your ignorance.
Micky Bananas says
Oh…do some research before you make sweeping statements like that…
Roughly 40% of the greater population of Africa as a continent is christian (second only to Islamic which is around the 45% mark).
Also worthy of note, the areas which are predominently christian also have the highest rate of infection from HIV/AIDS compared to the areas which aren’t. Can’t deny the facts really…

I’ll direct Bill Donohue to your site – he may have found what he thought might be hard to find.
Dave says
Nothing sadder than an aging actress trying to keep her sagging face in the limelight by making stupid comments.
Stella says
Did this spluttering bug-eyed human rights defender dare comment on Litvinenco’s death, women stoned to death for adultery and forced to wear burqa in Muslim countries, and suchlike? I don
Chaldanya says
**Hypocrites are the most disgusting species on this planet.**
Really? what about an organisation that steals hundreds of thousands of babies from their families and sells them at the behest of facist government. (Spain in case you are interested)
What about an organisation that systematically covers up rampant child abuse and allows it to go unchecked and unpunnished? (Anywhere there’s a Catholic presence in case you are interested)
Can you take a wild stab at which organisation that was?
Stella says
Like I said, hypocrites come in all shapes and sizes.
Get your facts straight! It wasn’t exclusively nuns who sold the babies, many laypersons, such as hospital nurses and doctors, raked it in. Little wonder the practice went on long after the dictator was dead. It wouldn’t hurt to read Spanish press to get first hand information about Spain, since British media often distort information about foreign countries.
Catholic Church has undeniably always been a bunch of manipulative scoundrels, but today they’re simply the lesser evil. The fact of the matter is, to revile Catholic Church is free, and an easy way for self-advertising hypocrites to play do-gooders.
What about child abuse committed by non-Catholics?
What about genital mutilation, aka clitoral ablation, of Africans girls?
What about an organisation that pays 200$ damages to the parents for strapping bombs to their children so that they blow up in public places? At least those nuns didn’t kill the babies.
Crass partiality like yours is a telling sign of either uttermost stupidity or belligerent hypocrisy, or both. Choose one.
Gilbert Wham says
Or, quite possibly, the fact that your particular pet faith happens to be the one being picked on today, hmmm? It’s not like the other issues you mention aren’t regularly reviled also, by a wide range of the political spectrum to boot.

Religion is nothing more than a way for a person or group of persons to control you and your life. Plain and simple. My one rule is: I will treat you as you treat me. Call me names, I will laugh at you. Hit me, I’ll knock the s@#t out of you. Want to go the weapons route? I’ll go anyway you want to try. What I don’t do and never will, is throw the first insult or punch. But, once begun, I won’t back down. Again, All Religions are only a way for someone to control your life. Plain and simple.
Stella says
Why is it actually considered wrong to kill or steal?
Don’t forget that communism, fascism, progress, technology or science are also religions and try to control your life and mind.
stella says
FYI, it’s not my pet faith (unlike you I don’t profess any religion), but yours is obviously being hurt.
Who and where dares revile these other issues? Any forum? Anyone?
Politicians say what is politically correct and don’t give two hoots about real problems as long as they keep their place at the trough.
Si Sharp says
The viewing of murder and theft in moral terms precedes the ten commandments, presuming that’s what you’re alluding to.
As for that list. Religion is actually a word with a specific definition, not some random word whose meaning you can choose to suit an argument. None of those things are religions. Science has some things in common with religion and that’s about as far as it goes.
Si Sharp says
Dear realhawkman,
Whilst being an atheist, I actually think you could learn a thing or two from Jesus. Life requires diplomacy, compromise, and forgiveness sometimes.
Stella says
And why were murder and theft ever viewed in moral terms in the first place? After all, animals have always survived without morality. Wasn’t it out of fear of punishment from some deity?
Any blind faith is a kind of religion, regardless what name you give God in it or the idol you worship. Just like golden calf.
