According to the Yahoo! Buzz Index – a list of the most popular things on the entire Internet – more people searched for Britney Spears than anything else in 2005. However, there’s still a couple of weeks left in the year. That’s why we’re heading the campaign to get everyone searching for French newsreader Melissa Theuriau. Together, we can knock Britney from the top of this Buzz Index thing.

Britney Spears (CDs) has had a quiet year, career-wise. Her Greatest Hits
album came out in 2004, and she’s been content to not do a single thing
in the meantime. However, Britney has still topped the Yahoo! Buzz
Index – and it’s mostly because of her mental personal life.

In 2004, Britney Spears got married twice – once for a couple of
days to some bloke she used to know, and once to Pavarotti-hating
rapper K-Fed – and yet she still managed to eclipse that weirdness in
2005. There was the Britney eBay bra auction that never was,
the dreadful Britney And Kevin: Chaotic reality TV show which only
helped reinforce the most outlandish ideas people had about Britney,
and the charity auction of Britney Spears’ piss-soaked pregnancy test.

And that’s just ignoring Britney Spears’ new baby, Sean Preston,
who must have helped Britney Spears top the 2005 Yahoo! Buzz Index.
There was the time where Britney decided, briefly, to call the baby
London,
the life-sized nativity scene Britney built for Sean Preston (with the
baby as Jesus, naturally)
and that whole incident when Sean Preston’s photos were stolen and pinned up
all over the Internet.

And then, just in case Britney’s Yahoo! Buzz Index chances even
more, there’s Britney’s husband Kevin Federline. This year, Kevin made
a genius rap track, Y’all Ain’t Ready,
where he predicted that we would "hate" the stuff he decided to
"create" until "straight 2008," which is presumably when we’ll all
stop laughing and crown Kevin the King of All the World. Or something.
And then, just to ensure her Buzz Index rating stays tip-top, there’s the potentially forthcoming Britney Spears/Kevin Federline divorce.

All of this has helped Britney Spears top the Yahoo! Buzz Index for
