Fans of enormous back-combed hair, spandex and interminable widdly widdly widdly guitar solos rejoice! Van Halen are definitely getting back together according to David Lee Roth.

Roth says that a Van Halen reunion is "inevitable," but he didn’t set any dates as to when the hair metallers would get back together, and there’s a chance that he was just drawing attention to his new radio show, and not really planning to reform Van Halen at all. That’s probably the case, in fact.

David Lee Roth (CDs) is the replacement for loudmouth DJ Howard Stern, who left his spot on terrestrial radio in a giant webcast blaze across New York
last month. While Stern has moved to a satellite station where he can
say "bum" and "nipple" and "wee-wee" as much as he likes out of the
reach of those pesky censors, Roth has been drafted in to take his
place. New DJ Starts Work On A Show We’ve Never Listened To – where’s
the story in that?

New DJ Claims That He’ll Get His Ridiculously Dressed Old Band Back
Together
– now there’s a story, and David Lee Roth knows it. When he
was interviewed by the Pittsburgh Tribune Review, Roth knew exactly
what buttons to press. He told the publication:

"I
talked to the drummer [Alex Van Halen] about a week ago, and I think,
eventually, the inevitable will happen… It definitely won’t be
rockers with walkers. Getting onstage and singing Dance the Night Away
- let me
tell you how difficult that
isn’t going to be."

David
Lee Roth sang with Van Halen from the mid 70s until 1985. After Sammy
Hagar
– his replacement – left Van Halen in 1996, Roth tried to return
to the fold, but simmering tensions between singer and band meant that
the reunion was only temporary. Later attempts to rejoin Van Halen were
hampered by Eddie Van Halen being diagnosed with cancer, and solo
efforts by David Lee Roth have been patchy at best. Roth continued to tell
the Pittsburgh Tribune Review:

"When people bring up Van Halen, I talk about it with pride and with no
apprehension at all. I play those songs
all the time."

Songs like Jump and, um… Dance The Night Away and, you know… the others. Woo! Van Halen! Yeah!
