Have to say, this performance by a school orchestra of the title music of 2001: A Space Odyssey had us rolling on the floor at Hecklerspray Towers.
It gets better (worse) as it goes on. Sheer brilliance.
The piece is written by Richard Strauss and is called Sprach Zarathustra, which we can only assume is German for ‘play really badly’.

This is definitely a very good rendition of space Odyssey
I’m pretty sure this brilliant rendition of ‘Also sprach Zarathustra’ is not a ‘school performance’ at all, but quite a well known recording by the magnificent Portsmouth Sinfonia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Portsmouth_Sinfonia – a group of amateurs who made several great recordings, including one of the Tchaikovsky’s 1812 Overture with the bangs in the wrong places.
Yours pedantically,
Grumpy old musician/granny
That ending was phenomenal
5.56? Really? Everyone’s in the pub.
WASTE. OF. TIME.
I’m very disappointed in you.
Ouch, that hurt my ears!
