It must be awful being a wealthy celebrity who takes on the gig of UN ambassador. You have to go to all these poverty stricken places and you’re fully expected to blank out that room you have in one of your houses that is filled with jewels and 68.4 surround sound and the like. Awful. Simply awful.
And that’s the plight faced by poor ol’ Angelina Jolie. When she’s not being really rich in the face of flood victims, she highlighting other bad things.
After nodding meekly like a modern Princess Diana, Jolie has moved on from looking nice in a Jedi hood to condemning a Florida church’s threat to burn copies of the Muslim holy book to mark the ninth anniversary of the September 11th attacks.
The Pout-A-Tron actress spoke out against the proposed burning during her worthiness building exercise to Pakistan.
Jolie says:
“I have hardly the words that somebody would do that to somebody’s religious book!”
Of course, America is home to some of the most spectacular nut-jobs in the whole world and one of these staggering wank-barrows is the Christian minister who is organizing the Quran burning and he goes by the name of Pastor Terry Jones. It takes a special type of right-wing tit-hamper to actually believe that anything good might come from burning another religion’s sacred text.
Until Jolie opened her big fat mouth, the issue hadn’t got much press in Pakistan, mainly because they’ve been busy dealing with those really awful floods.
However, militants in the country will now be more than aware of it after The Really Famous Person mentioned it to everyone.
Well done you.
Fundamentalist will now be sharpening their bullets to kill soldiers, leaving that small percentage of crackpot Americans to get even more angry and blindly assume that Muslims are somehow a menace to the world – which they’re not. Idiots.

I’m not quit sure how to respond to this attack on Angelina and Brad Pitt. I guess what I want to say is: What have U done 4 the world lately writer ? I think shes done quit a bit representing the U S @ the U N. Do U think U would be a better example of America to the world, if so why were U not appointed as U S Ambassador to anything ? Maybe U thought U should get an appointment to a position of influence too. I think some of the really good people in Hollywood are chipping in to help those that are in genuine need during natual desasters i.e. Haiti and the like. Maybe some of the extremist will change their minds when we send them some relief after the flooding has subsided. I see no purpose in burning the Koran any more than burning the Cathalic Bibles during the inquisition aniversery every year. Lets @ least try to live in peace when we can..

The most important issue at hand is that of free speech. You may exercise it by burning books, flags or by calling editors and/or the people they talk about, flaming idiots. In the United States, we are free to speak out on just about any issue. Sticks and stones can break my bones, but words can never hury me. If a guy wants to burn some books and he paid for them, what real difference does it make? If Angolina wants to talk about it, who cares? Get a life. Get real. Find an issue of true significance to waste your limited brain power upon.

Not being a particular fan of Bradjolina, I still think that anyone who gives of their time and money to help others deserve better than to be savgaed by a writer who merely writes to incite others so he (she) can get hits for their site.
As to some of the racist and simplistic comments about burning the Qu’ran, Koran or whatever religious book is in question, I think this just proves that, while the Founding Fathers were great, I sometimes wish that they had instituted a means test other than the mere accident of birth for citizenship. I like Angelina Jolie and what she has done with her influence as an actress, so I am not fond of how you put this. However, I do understand what you’re saying, and I actually agree, somewhat to it. I have to say, I am sided with her in that I hate that they decided to do that (and I am, like that pastor, a Christian), but I don’t think it was very smart of her to bring it into so much attention. You’re right, people may end up putting us Americans into one big, stereotypical melting pot, and hate all of us, and who knows where that will lead! Many wars have been fought over religion.
