I will argue with anyone who will listen about how American Horror Story: Coven is hands down the best season of American Horror Story in every way possible. Those bad bitches make my week! Well, if you tuned in to the Grammys on Sunday night, you’d see that apparently I’m not the only big fan of American Horror Story: Coven.
This year’s Grammys were like my fashion dreams come true. So much spooky witch fashion, it was Coven meets The Craft and I died and went to all black heaven. Madonna was like The Supreme of the Grammys and she brought her entire witches in training army with her. If you don’t know what I mean by Supreme, you maybe shouldn’t be reading a blog with a lot of AHS references.
Just in case you’re not familiar with how the cast of Coven looks, here is a little preview:
The show is fierce and the witches on it are fiercer, so I’m not even surprised that this look dominated the Grammys. Witches always tend to inspire fashion. Back in the 90s (and still to this day, to be perfectly honest) all I ever wanted was every outfit from the movie The Craft.
So let’s have a look at some of the awesome Witching hour looks from last night and decide who reigned supreme!
Katy Perry went full on Satanic witching hour with her performance. At one point, her and her fellow witchy dancers used their broomsticks as stripper poles to do a sexy dance. Usually, I find Katy Perry’s performances lack luster and dull, but given my interests, I found this performance to be extremely aesthetically pleasing.
If Madonna was Fiona last night, then Cyndi Lauper was Myrtle (again, you may have to look these references up). The bright red hair, chunky gold accessories, and all black attire did everything for me. I loved it.
Yoko Ono and her son, Sean, showed up looking like they’d just spent the entire night before catching up on Coven before the finale and suddenly felt inspired to wear this to the Grammys.
I feel like it’s kind of a given that Stevie Nicks would show up looking like a witch from Coven since, you know, there is a character on the show based on her and she herself plays a witch on Coven. So, you know.
However, as far as I’m concerned, the obvious witchy winner of the night was Lorde.
The black hair, deep purple lipstick, pale skin, black dip dyed nails, spooky sutble performance; this isn’t Lorde just being witchy at the Grammys, this is who she is 24/7 and I love it. Lorde is a natural witchy woman and I feel like her look and performance were absolutely flawless last night. In other words:
