50 Cent And Kanye West in George Bush Squabble
November 3rd, 2005 at 15:30 by Stuart Heritage
George W Bush needs all the help he can get at the moment; his administration is mired in corruption and stuck in a war it wished it had never got into. But at least someone is on his side - step forward bullet-ridden, drug-hustling rapper 50 Cent.
50 Cent has taken offence at the infamous "George Bush doesn’t care about black people" remark made by Kanye West during a live Hurricane Katrina fundraiser. Two rappers disagreeing about something? Gosh, we didn’t see that coming.
Kanye West (CDs) hit the headlines in September when, during a
nationally-broadcast Hurricane Katrina benefit show for the residents of New Orleans, he strayed
off-script to say;
"I hate the way they portray us in the media. You see a
black family, it says, "They’re looting." You see a white family, it
says, ‘They’re looking for food.’… We already realise a lot of people that
could help are at war right now, fighting another way - and they’ve
given them permission to go down and shoot us… George Bush doesn’t care about black people!"
But 50 Cent (CDs) has gone on-record to disagree with West. Contactmusic quotes the rapper as saying:
"The New Orleans disaster was meant to happen. It was an act of God. I think people responded to it the best way they can. What Kanye West was saying, I don’t know where that
came from."
This
isn’t the first time that 50 Cent has struck out at Kanye West - back
in September, he claimed that West’s success was mostly down to him:
"I feel like Kanye West is successful because of me. After 50 Cent, (hip-hop fans) was looking for something
non-confrontational, and they went after first thing that came along.
That was Kanye West, and his record took off."
One thing’s for sure, though. 50 Cent isn’t just deliberately trying to say a bunch of contentious stuff to promote his new movie Get Rich Or Die Tryin’, oh no. Ahem.
Who’s right and who’s wrong in this whole George Bush squabble, 50 Cent or Kanye West? And how would you like to see the rappers resolve their dispute? A grown-up debate, a game of rock paper scissors, or a bunch of tedious insults on every record they make for the rest of their pissing lives? Leave your comments below.

Just wanted to say I agree with both 50 and Kanye. 50 might be saying this to promote his record but I also believes that he says what he means. Kanye comes from chicago, tho most segrated big name city in america, so I can see why he sees it as a race thing. Unfortunately race has nothing to do with this. It has to do with geographical locations and more important finances. We must remember the mayor and the police chief are black, so are they holding all they’re brothers down????Probably so, but lets bring the poor black, whites, and poor legal immigrants together and bring this capatilistic regime down, and replace it with a socialistic one. Capatilism equals greed and survival of the fittest or the richest. Socialism equals, equality, and to stop the social injustices that are happening in this world today. Socialism might have a bad name, but it least it goes in the right way, where capatilism is making the gap between rich and poor larger and larger and larger. All that is going to happen is evil.

At first I thought 50 was quite good, then I realised he wasn’t really.. (just like the majority of pop rappers, they only have a few things to rap about, women, bling -I always thought diamonds were a girls best friend?- , and violence). Let him claim responsibility to Kanyes fame, who cares? There are plenty of stars who could claim they made someone successful but what does it matter? They’re all rich and famous like they have always wanted to be..
I am a Kanye fan but I find him extremely arrogant, which he admits to being, but I think it was out of order for him to say what he did at the benifit show, the show was about encouraging and showing the public how to help the victims of the hurricane. It wasn’t a show for him to spout his political beliefs, and why did everyone make such a big deal of it, surely they already knew George Bush was a twat?

I agree with kanye west because it took an extremely long time for the troops to clear out new orleans. the only thing bush had to say about the n.o. is that it looked bad, (naw really) he bipassed the n.o. and went to mississippi where there was less damage. I sort of agree with 50, because the president does need all the help he can get, but get real we had billions to rebuild Iraq… what about New Orleans? 50 cent… I can’t stand him because he is not the reason for Kanye’s fame that was a very childish remark he made, step ya game up playa, really!!!

So… President Bush chose to take his time in having the troops help out the people of New Orleans because there are black people in New Orleans? So instead, you’re saying he went to Mississippi… because there are no black people there? Because there was less damage, and he’s just an asshole? How stupid can you get. Try thinking next time before blindly listening to the people around you who tell you what to think.
Just because Kanye made a total tool out of himself on national television doesn’t mean he needs support.

kanye is wrong about that statement.hurricane katrina is natural so he cant blame bush,if he is right he should blame God as well.

Kanye is 100% right…he is not implying that Bush caused the hurricane (for all of you who seem to somehow think that that’s what he’s trying to say). He’s simply stating that Bush took far too long to react to the situation in New Orleans, which he clearly did. As for “Curtis Jackson”, to believe that he’s the reason for kanye’s success is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard. If anything, Kanye will be the reason why 50’s career fizzles out, cause sooner or later, there will be another gangster rapper exactly like 50 cent (which there already has been plenty) and no one will even remember who he is. The type of music that 50 cent makes is what kills hip hop. He’s a talentless thug…I could write songs like 50 Cent does…it doesn’t require too much creativity or talent. Kanye West is the best thing to happen to hip hop in a long time.

Hip hop is an artform therefore there are many styles to it you dont compare just respect the artist style of craft

I think that the comment Kanye West made that ” George Bush dosn’t like black people”, was ridiculous and out of line. What would make him think that Bush would have acted any differently if something like that happened to an area mostly populated by white people? I think that was a rascist sneer at the president, and just for the record Kanye’s dad was a Black Panther, so on the contrary. He probraly dosn’t care about white people.
