It’s sad to see a famous person fall to pieces and get in trouble with the law isn’t it? They are human after all. Ha! Right! We love it. We’re horrible, vacuous turds who thrive on the misery of others! One day we’ll find it within ourselves to show some empathy and we’ll probably begin praying to some false god in the hope we can redeem ourselves, but ’til then, we’ll sneer like our lives depend on it.
And the latest celebrity to make us laugh via personal turmoil is Randy Quaid who is wanted by the police after him and his wife failed to turn up at a court for squatting at a California home.
Did you hear that? Squatting. What next? Dreadlocks?
What’s happened here is that the police arrested Randy Quaid and his wife Evi after they squatted in a house that no longer belonged to them. Obviously, the pair are claiming that the Santa Barbara property still belonged to them.
It’s alleged that the mucky Quaids caused more than $5,000 (?3,158) in damage to the property. What were they doing? Shitting up the walls?
Randy and Evi Quaid each face tresspass and vandalism charges.
So how do you trespass and vandalise a property you own? Well, sadly for these two, the actual owners of the house produced documents showing they had purchased the house in 2007 from a man who had bought it from the Quaids several years before.
This means that they haven’t owned the house for pissing ages!
It seems that the Quaids aren’t very good at being law abiding citizens as they missed a load of court appearances in an earlier case involving charges they defrauded an innkeeper. They were arrested which saw them owing a California hotel with a balance due of approximately $10,000.
It’s worth pointing out that they eventually paid-up and the charges were dropped. Still, way to make your life really difficult.
They’re not helped by the fact that they say flippant things about the police like:
“The Santa Barbara police are not real estate attorneys”.
So, from starring in Independence Day and National Lampoon’s Vacation (and being the older brother of Dennis Quaid) to being a dirty squatter, in one felled swoop. Go team!
Their lawyer was not available for comment when someone who cares more about the outcome of this story got in touch.
Cookie Monster says
Were I the type to believe news casts, I would believe that Randy (best name ever) and wife were located, and detained, in British Columbia, here in Canada. Apparently, they are attempting to claim asylum. Insanity may be the safer claim. Chevy Chase will send-in his best men, rest assured.
