Unless you’ve been a) living under a rock, or b) aren’t a dumbass jerk wad like me who stays thoroughly up to date on all celebrity gossip, you’ve probably heard about the feud that Amber Rose has gotten herself into with the Kardashians. One of my fellow HecklerSpray bloggers just wrote about it, so you can easily catch yourself up. Though Amber’s feud has primarily been with Khloe, she brought Kim into it in a way that made me kind of SMH at her.
Even though it’s been like a million years since it’s release, people still feel a need to constantly bring up Kim Kardashian’s sex tape and claim that it’s the only reason her family is famous at all, which is essentially what Amber did. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love mocking the Kardashian’s, but even I think this is some sexist bullshit that has to stop.
Back in the days of the early 2000s, when flare jeans with scarves as belts were for some reason considered fashionable, Kim Kardashian started getting noticed for hanging out with heiress/another sex-tape star, Paris Hilton. They were total biffles and Kim was actually also Paris’ closet organizer (I just got my closet organizer from Walmart, but whatever).
People (mostly men, DUH) started to take notice of this hot chick always hanging out with flash in the pan celebutaunt, Paris, and soon found out a) she had a ridiculously huge family, b) she was the daughter of O.J. Simpson’s bff and lawyer, c) Olympian, Bruce Jenner, was her step dad, and d) somewhat reality tv celebrity, Brody Jenner, was her step-brother. E! got wind of this and of course thought this family would potentially make a good reality show, so they started to work their magic.
THEN, Kim’s sex tape from a few years prior got leaked (or maybe Kris Jenner sold it, it’s pretty fucking irrelevant) and, much like it did with pal, Paris Hilton, made Kim a bigger star. However, that’s where the similarities with Hilton basically end, because after a couple of years of fame, Paris Hilton became really irrelevant, and thank god, because I may laugh at the Kardashians, but I think the Hilton’s are fucking awful people.
So basically, this is why people like Amber are all like “she’s just a hoe who got famous for riding dick on camera. She’s just a porn star who is a hoe and that’s why her family is famous.” And THAT’S what pisses me off (especially that another woman would throw that shit out, class act as always, Amber).
Almost a decade ago, a little known Kim Kardashian had a sex tape released with the also little known Ray J. Now, just about a decade later, her, her sister’s and extended family are some of the most famous people in the world. They get major magazine covers like Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Allure, The LOVE Magazine, GQ, W, etc. They have successful clothing lines, make up and beauty lines, hair care product lines. They’re some of the most followed people on Instagram and Twitter. They’re fashion and make up icons. The reality show about their family is going into season TEN and has spawned numerous spin-offs. NASA landed a ROCKET on a meteor and the internet still cared more that Kim’s bare ass was on the cover of Paper Magazine. Kendall Jenner has modeled for the top designers in the world, including Chanel, for Christ’s sake! Do you think a shitty sex tape made over ten years ago is really responsible for all of this? If so, why aren’t the Hilton’s still on tv and getting magazine covers?
Why isn’t Pamela Anderson sitting front row at Fashion Week next to whoever that girl was that was in the sex tape with Rob Lowe?
I can hate on the Kardashian/Jenners all I want, but it doesn’t change the fact that they took a tiny little E! reality show and became the most famous people on the fucking planet, sex tape or no sex tape, and bitches like Amber throwing out bullshit about Kim’s tape is straight up petty, jealous, and sexist. Oh, she and her entire family are hoes because when she was in her early 20’s she made a sex tape that got out? It has nothing to do with how good they are at manipulating the media and having incredibly business smarts?
And before you get all “Well, Khloe started the slut shaming by calling Amber out for being a stripper at 15”, I’ll have you know I’ve read the entire Twitter feud, thank you very much, and she didn’t diss Amber for being a stripper at 15, she just pointed out that Amber shouldn’t hate on Kylie, who is 17,?and say she needs to be in bed by 7pm, when Amber herself was being preeeetttttty adult in her mid-teens. Then Amber brought the “whore” word into it and started posting tragic ass bullshit, like?this:
I think it’s about time everyone grew up, calmed the fuck down, and realized having a sex tape doesn’t make a woman a whore, nor is it the only reason this particular family is successful, and claiming it is, is some reeeeeaaaaallll sexist bullshit.
End rant.

Basically Brilliant. Well done. This needed saying. Thought the OJ line from Amber was rotten too.

I think Amber should’ve kept Kylie out of it I mean, Tyga left Blk Chyna not her.
Talk about the fact Wiz having 3somes in your bed with twin sisters. OUCH!

I think this argument doesn’t really consider that Amber only said this as a “tit for tat”/”don’t throw glass stones if you live in a glass house” remark in response to HER being the one who was orginally called a whore by the Kardashian sister. I find it hard to believe that a former stripper would actually consider another woman a whore simply for the reason of having made a sex tape. She’s merely taking a devil’s advocate approach and her comments, when standing on their own, seem ugly and judgemental.
I don’t mean to be the contrarian here (I admittedly read most of your blogs and find them entertaining and humorous, despite my lack of interest in celebrity gossip) but I just felt the need to point this out because if we start making everything issues of sexism, privelage, etc (all the hot words of the recent social media era) then they lose their weight and people become exhausted by those issues so much they’re too jaded to willingly engage when it matters most.
With that said, keep doing you. You’re killin’ it.
