Prince fans, get ready to not download his next album. For the record, we don’t mean the Prince of Darkness, Prince of Lies, or Prince Valiant: we mean the skinny waif of an eighties pop icon with a purple penchant.
The artist formerly known as a symbol implying lack of specific gender – that’s Prince to you – has an album coming out very soon. On March 21st, 2006 he’s releasing 3121, and each album purchased could contain a purple ticket that would allow you through the doors of Prince‘s Minneapolis mansion.
Once there, you can take a nap on his couch, make a sandwich, or tell his Spanish maid to keep rubbing your feet. Probably.
Prince (CDs) is giving legitimate album buying fans the chance of a lifetime. Inside some cases of his new album 3121
(out on 03/21/2006), he is putting a very select amount of purple
tickets. Those who get the tickets will be able to attend a very small
Prince concert held in his very own home in Minneapolis. The evening
is dubbed ‘An Evening With Prince’, and should prove to be enjoyable, so
long as no-one touches his stuff.
Tickets are also hidden in his new single Black Sweat, which is already out and available for purchase. We know what you’re all thinking: "He totally ripped off Johnny Depp," but Prince’s hidden ticket idea is miles away from the Willy Wonka movie, as most of the Oompa Loompa‘s are way taller than him. But a source at Universal, Prince’s temporary record label, said:
"This is another great marketing stunt."
hecklerspray assumes the other publicity stunts being vaguely
referred to here are Prince writing ‘Slave’ on his face, and never
selling himself into fake bondage via eBay or the Eurasian black
market.
In other news, Prince has been extended the offer to perform with The Pussycat Dolls at the upcoming Brit Awards. hecklerspray, always being considered the seventh Pussycat Doll
in highly intellectual circles, is keeping it’s fingers crossed. If we
could manage a jump into Prince’s band, we may be able to wear clothes
that were a little less revealing. Our dear old mother says she saw
our "stuff" when she birthed us, and seeing it in leopard print is even
worse.
