When I heard that Chelsea Handler was blaming a celebrity for Donald Trump being elected president, I (and I assume everyone else who’s ever heard Chelsea Handler speak) assumed she was somehow blaming Angelina Jolie for it since she never shuts the fuck up about Angelina Jolie.
However, I guess she was giving Angie the day off, because rather than blame Jolie for this, she blamed the Kardashians, which makes no sense, since we know it’s actually the Hiltons that voted for him.
Handler took a minute away from tonguing Jennifer Aniston’s asshole, to spew some, dare I say, truth, about what’s going on in American right now.
“[The media] were treating him as an entertainer first. It was a reality show. We’ve turned into a reality show. I blame the Kardashians, personally; the beginning of the end was the Kardashians. The way these people have blown up and don’t go away — it’s surreal. Everyone is for sale. We’re looking at a man that gets mad at Vanity Fair for reviewing his restaurant poorly. By the way, have you ever been to that restaurant? It’s the biggest piece of garbage you’ve ever walked into. That place looks like a Southwest airport lounge. It’s the worst.”
As much as I rag on Chelsea Handler for being annoying af and weirdly obsessed with hating on Angelina Jolie, whether she deserves it or not, she does kind of have a point. This shit show of an election and now Trump as president is all like some big, weird reality show that isn’t even real life. None of this feels remotely real, and I do feel like the Kardashians play a huge role in making American culture this way. They made reality stars the new American royalty and now a reality star is president of the whole fucking country.
There’s actually a huge blizzard about to hit my city and I had bladder surgery this week so I don’t feel mentally prepared to blog about the fact that Trump is now president, but tune in tomorrow when I’m sure to have written something in a drunken blizzard stupor.
