It’s a scary world out there, guys. Cory Monteith’s recent death serves as a sad reminder that no one is ever guaranteed anything.?
The Glee star passed away this weekend in Vancouver aged just 31, ?prompting an out-pour of touching tributes from friends and fans from all corners of the globe. Some of these could manage to squeeze a tear from a marble statue.
John Stamos featured in a few episodes of Glee in 2010 as an all-singing, all-dancing dentist with an encyclopedic knowledge of The Rocky Horror Show , and posted this touching message along with a photo of him and Cory sat around on set. Cory struggled with drug addiction since he was a teenager, and suffered a relapse followed by another rehab stint earlier this year. No cause of death has been confirmed yet but it goes without saying that most people believe this had something to do with it.
I'll be sending a white balloon with a message of love to Cory. Just to let him know how he changed my life –
how I listened to ever quote because I managed to confront my own problems with substance abuse.
He reached out to me, and I want to reach out to him.Cory the world will be a little shorter now that we lost an incredible giant. We love you. – The Glee Fandom.
This was posted by Tumblr user diaryofalonelyfreshman, just one of the fans that praised Corey for being a relatable rolemodel for people with similar demons to face. The last line is a reference to the fact that Corey was 6″3 and someone once cracked a joke on Glee that he should be called ‘Frankenteen’. As well as being among one the nicer examples of high school nicknames (if they gave out realistic ones, they’d have to bump Glee up to an 11pm slot), it was also Cory’s Twitter handle.
A nicely edited shot of the candlelit vigil for the star outside of Paramount Studios, Los Angeles. There have also been vigils outside of the Fairmont Pacific Hotel where his body was found. It’s especially sweet that there are personal touches like the ‘Can’t Dance’ candle. There’s no touching backstory here, he just wasn’t very good at dancing.
It might be a weird situation to try and raise a smile in, but this is definitely a tasteful way to do it anyway. No one ever wants their loved ones to be upset over their death anyway. I plan to instruct everyone attending my funeral to sing ‘Ding Dong, The Witch Is Dead’ whilst hundreds of dwarves with giant lollipops dance around the churchyard.
I just wish this wasn?t real. I just wish today we were complaining about not getting some stupid photo shoot
that we wanted and begged for or thinking about the future of Finchel or fawning over some gorgeous photo of them together. Instead, we're here with a lot of questions and hardly any answers, and a pain that just comes and goes in waves.
This was the first paragraph of a very long tribute to Cory on Tumblr. Finchel – Finn and Rachel – was the onscreen romance that kick started his real life romance with co-star Lea Michele. They were engaged at the time of his death.
Oh, Instagram. Right where it hurts. These were all beautiful sentiments from the people who will miss him most, but it’s only appropriate to hear from the man himself. When appearing on ‘Inside The Actors Studio’, Cory was asked what God would say to him when he reached the pearly gates. His reply?
“Uh, sorry I haven’t been around. There’s a good explanation. “
Hopefully he got his explanation. Rest in peace, buddy.
