It’s finally happened – X Factor is now officially more about the managers than the singers. Saturday’s X Factor had it all: inferred racism, anti-Irish sentiments, smug old Simon Cowell rubbing his hands together knowing that all this pointless controversy is going to mean that he’ll be coining it in by Christmas.
In short, Saturday’s X Factor was the most exciting thing to happen on a televised talent show since Barry The Hermaphrodite Goat Molester somehow made it through to the finals of Opportunity Knocks in 1975.
But how did The Great Conway Sisters Debacle affect the managers’ chances of winning X Factor? Here’s this week’s X Factor winning manager betting odds, with help from Betfair.com…
Simon Cowell – According to Betfair, now that both Louis and Sharon
have lost at least one contestant each, Simon has better odds to win X
Factor. This despite the fact that he admitted himself that, had he
been impartial on Saturday, he’d have ditched his own act. The Conway
Sisters are now a giant albatross hanging around Simon’s neck. But that
shouldn’t matter, because he’s clearly resting all his hopes on Journey
South to win the competition.
However, Journey South are a couple of yelling soft-rock buskers, so
they have a lot more work to do to convince anyone that they’re
contenders to win the series. Simon’s hopes now rest squarely on
Journey South and, frankly, we don’t like them apples. Current odds –
5.2
Sharon Osbourne – Sharon is no longer the manager most likely to win
X Factor. Why is this? Is it because she’s gone on record as saying
that Mother Teresa is a "cunt"? More likely, it’s because she has lost
Maria: a moderately talented singer who – since leaving the show – has
been the subject of some incredible hyperbole. Or possibly she’s lost bets because she
slagged off the entire Irish nation on Saturday.
That leaves Sharon with Chico – who stopped being funny and
interesting a fortnight ago, Brenda – a good singer who won’t win, and
Andy – who, despite getting the biggest cheers of the night on
Saturday, should be used in hospitals as cheap anaesthesia. Sharon has
taken a knock, but she shouldn’t be written off yet. Current odds – 2.66
Louis Walsh – Louis Walsh, AKA the most hated man in all of Great
Britain, has somehow overcome all the righteous hatred poured in his
direction over the last week to emerge as favourite to win X Factor. Is
it because people respected his decision to choose The Conway Sisters
over Maria on Saturday? Of course not – angry mobs have burnt down
houses for less.
Is it because of Nicholas, who – we learnt earlier in the week – is
"well BUMMMMMMMMMMM"? Nope. It’s all down to Shayne The Incredible
Justin Timberlake Impersonator. As far as we can see, Shayne is going
to win X Factor. And if he does, Louis does. Current odds – 2.24
