Saturday's X Factor marked the end of the line for young Nikitta Angus. Ever since the start of X Factor Nikitta had a rough ride from the judges, but this week they loved her. And then they booted her out. Sucks to be her, right?
Of course, most of Nikitta's failings can be squarely laid at the foot of Simon Cowell. Instead of playing to her strengths – having a crushing lack of personality, um… crying a lot – Simon made Nikitta sing a disco song on Saturday that Brenda Edwards sang during last year's X Factor. Only, where Brenda was a genuinely talented powerhouse of a vocalist, Nikitta just looked reedy and weak in comparison. And now all Nikitta has are if onlys, like the one that goes "if only I could sing better, that smug little tosser Ray would have got the shove instead of me." It's a similar if only that we have, only slightly less violent.
But now Nikitta Angus has been shown the X Factor elbow, who'll win the series? Here are the X Factor betting odds for The MacDonald Brothers and Ray Quinn…
The MacDonald Brothers – The MacDonald Brothers are especially fond of telling people that they used to be wedding singers and, since Saturday's X Factor had the exceptionally vague 'love songs' theme, it's no surprise that the MacDonald Brothers utilised their ability to blandly belt out guffy insincere songs to moderate effect and gave their least awful performance yet. In fact, the MacDonald Brothers achieved a rare feat – they somehow managed to get the X Factor studio audience clapping along in time to their snoozy rendition of She's The One. Well, we assume the audience was clapping – there's just as good a chance that they were all slapping their heads with disbelief because the MacDonald Brothers haven't realised that the sight of two related men singing love songs while gazing into each other's eyes is just about the creepiest thing that the human mind can deal with on a Saturday teatime. Current X Factor betting odds – 50/1
Ray Quinn – Up until Saturday it was widely assumed that Ray Quinn was very good at doing what he does; basically performing pop hits in the ultra-smug style that Frank Sinatra would if he was inexplicably dressed up as Atom Boy and somehow coerced into suffering a massive stroke. On Saturday's X Factor Ray performed Crazy Little Thing Called Love in exactly the same way that he's been doing for the last couple of weeks, with the bizarre addition of a freaking saxophone player popping up and tooting around for a microsecond. Sadly for Ray – and his squadron of hopelessly illiterate followers – the X Factor audience decided that we were right all along and that Ray was a self-satisfied little turd who needed taking down a peg or two, and he was placed up for X Factor elimination against Nikitta. This means that Ray will have to try a new trick to win back some fans next week, and about time too – the Boogie Woogie preset button on his Bontempi keyboard must getting a bit worn out by now. Current X Factor betting odds – 28/1
Tomorrow – the X Factor betting odds for Robert Allen and Eton Road.
