When Tom Cruise loves someone, he knows just how to show it: by starring in a movie alongside the object of his desire. At the moment, that lucky swine is Katie Holmes – and a Cruise/ Holmes movie is apparently on the cards.
Great – after all, we all remember what masterpieces the films Tom Cruise made with Nicole Kidman were, don't we? Perhaps the world will be treated to Days Of Thunder 2 – Trickle Robs The Cradle starring Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, or Eyes Wide Shut 2 – Wider And Shutter. Fabulous. Pass the placenta – we feel like celebrating!
In retrospect, the Tom Cruise War Of The Worlds publicity trawl was a perfectly-timed explosion of events – Tom meets Katie, Tom proposes to Katie, Katie gets pregnant, Tom shouts at everybody that disagrees with him about everything – so perfect, in fact, that his Mission: Impossible III publicity tour has been a little bit dull in comparison.
Face it – Tom Cruise only had one big weapon in his arsenal this time round; Katie Holmes giving birth to baby Suri Cruise. And that was it. The burnt stuntman didn't cut it, and nor did the unconvincing German TV appearance. And Tom Cruise blew it – Mission: Impossible III isn't even out for another week, and everyone's already bored with all the baby talk.
This means that Tom Cruise has to rely on his stock gestures – like spending hours and hours whooping and jumping around in front of crowds at premieres and talking a lot of gibberish to try and keep the attention on him. Like saying that he wants to make a movie with his girlfriend Katie Holmes.
Tom is apparently convinced that starring in a film together would be good for their relationship, while allowing them both to spend a lot of time with Suri. And there's also a chance that it'd make Katie Holmes famous for something other than being Tom Cruise's girlfriend. A slim chance. Anyway, this is what Tom has to say about it:
"I can't wait to do a movie with Katie. I don't think working together is a bad idea at all, a relationship can definitely work under pressure if you like each other enough."
