For any bright sparks out there, we haven't searched through the fishy internet seas to bring you a band that pays tribute to former AC Milan player Paolo Maldini.
Whilst a potential collection of footballer?s grunts could be mesmerising due to their weirdness, it's something that hasn't quite been unleashed upon the world yet.
Nor have Screaming Maldini have recorded any songs that literally involve a fat Norwegian man bellowing his lungs out for three minutes. Instead, we get ludicrously ace songs that draw in sounds from pop, indie, retro and post-punk. If that wasn?t enough, there are even trumpets! With multiple members of the band on singing duties, there are lively tracks a go-go from this boy and girl six piece.
Is it fair to say that there aren't enough power poptastic happy songs out there? All that seems to be around are serious old dirges going on about love or trying to pull girls in a club. Boo to all of that – where has all the fun gone? Give us back some upbeat catchy tunes that make us want to move around like loons.
After listening to Screaming Maldini, bouncing around is all we want to do. Honestly, if we could pick a band to soundtrack our dreams where we float through the clouds and eat pieces of rainbow, it would be them. They have easily cracked the formula for creating melodic pop songs that gives them a unique musical stamp. And there is nothing wrong with originality. Especially since electro R&B is clogging up the airwaves worse than kebab grease in your arteries.
Normally, we?d deconstruct some of the songs available for your listening pleasure via the band’s MySpace player. However, this week we are offering you the chance to exclusively download a track from Screaming Maldini?s debut EP And The Kookaburra which is released via the brilliant Alcopop Records label.
For your enjoyment, we can exclusively offer you a taste of the EP by giving you the second track off the record The Extraordinary. In just over four wonderful minutes, you will be treated to a song brimming with happiness complete with horns, trumpets and epic background vocals. Download it for yourself and then purchase the rest of the EP by visiting Screaming Maldini?s MySpace page.
