Puerto Rico is neither.
Its really more of a doormat than a port, and only rich if compared to Cuba. Virtually every country that happened upon its shores defeated and dominated the indigeneous people there. The only thing the poor saps have won in their waterlogged history is Miss Universe. As soon as Zuleyka Mendoza is able she’ll abandon that god forsaken archipelago and go to a real country.

i’m not going to play up the ignorant puerto rican claiming that P.R. is country, to be perfectly honest with everyone I can admit that puerto rico is not a country. Puerto rico is a commonwealth of the United States of America bought in 1898 from Spain. Now to all the haters out there, here’s a little history lesson from a PROUD PUERTO RICAN who has done her research. We maybe a territory but the United States didn’t claim independence from England until 1776. And even then it was made up of 13 states, while it was surrounded not only by the native americans who have founded and lived in the land thousands of years before they did, but they were also neighbors to the French and the Spaniards. I’ll give the U.S. this much, they did a hell of a job building up the country in every way in small amount of time compared to many, older countries who have been established for well over three thousand years. Unfortunetaly, the U.S. is currently obtaining the title of being the country with the highest debt in the world. Now if you haven’t realized Puerto Rico is a supplier of many imports and exports, most of it being food. If not for Puerto rico the U.S. would starve and loose a vital source booze. Puerto Rico is made up of an array of people from different countries. I am Lebonese, Japanese, French, Italian, and Taino(the native people of the island of boricua), but most of all I AM A PROUD PUERTO RICAN.

If at any time the citizens of Puerto Rico ever feel the need to become an independent country of their own, I am in full support of that. But realistically, that means that we would have to come up with enough money to buy our island from the U.S. and Puerto Rico is way to valuable to the U.S. governement to sell it cheaply. We hold the largest and most powerful satellite in the world and the U.S. is not going to give that up so easily.

And I can proudly say that not only do have one beautiful Island that is a major tourist attraction and money maker for the U.S., but Puerto Rico is the birthplace of countless people who are beautiful, inside and out, as well as having high intelligence levels that can never be met those haters who like to talk shit and make mindless, uneducated chatter.

Who the hell cares about all this nonsense, sounds like to me, people try to make the U.S. sound like it’s so righteous and so fucking terrific to the Puerto Rican people, but let’s face it, there are tons and tons of puerto ricans who would’ve prefered never to come over to the U.S., but the choices in that matter are something else completely. Let me get some facts starights. yes the residents of puerto rico haven’t deicded their status in regards to the USA. Some want statehood, some want independence and somewant to remain a commonwealth/. Do you know why? It’s because of teh terrible relationship both places have had throughout they years. Puerto was INVADED by the americans and later after hey promised them statehood, decided not to give it to them because washington was full of racist f**** at the time. That’s why there’s bad blood between them . So the person who said the puerto rico is US’s bitch and the rest of the idiots that hate them needs to get their facts straight. The reason why so many Puertoricans feel as if it is a dif country is because we’ve been isolated by the US and hurt for many years. Yeah they give us money but they can’t take back all the they treated us as animals and even tested birthcontrol pills on our women because they think of us as less than human ( that’s only one of a couple of things). Part of the reason why we have our own MIss Universe, our own olympic team and the rest is because of an agreement with the USA when our isalnd became a commonwealth…so ask that idiot Bush intead of venting about with us . Also we were pretty much ignored economically until FDR deicded to help they island. The US doesn’t want us to be a state anyway( and guess what? I was pro statehood for many years) I love the US (which gave me alot of wonderful things and whose people I respected pretty much until now) and Puerto Rico (by the way we are unfortunately aren’t a true country but I’m starting to think we should be) and I don’t like to hear people talk shit about my Island when many of us don’t say shit about yours. There’s a bunch of people here that are either needing some history classes and are ignorant americans or the rest are just a bunch of dumb latin people form thirld world socialist countries or still stupid and just plain jealous. Yeah I don’t see you all complaining when You’re listening to reaggaeton or copying a bunch of stuff from us and yet have the need to talk about us. But then you wanna criticize our us when you wish you were in our place instead of being illegal aliens. Wake up and educate yourselves people.

wow… get a life… it is funny how most of the messages were written some time between 12 and 7 am… including mine!… you guys need to get some rest, this is just another competition designed to bring money to some rich ass hole (just like the super bowl, but not as big), obviously PR, venezuela, USA and other countries (or commonwealth who cares?) spend more money and interest trying to win these competitions and so they win. Honestly, it is true that there are beautiful women all around the globe, some more than others but who cares, is not like you are going to spend the night with all of them!!, and the contestants.. well, do you think the hottest girl in high school thought that she will be miss universe one day… no! she was busy trying to be hot and partying every weekend.. what about the smartest girl? nop, she was too busy getting a real degree in college and applying for a real job… so somewhere in between there is the girl who lived right in front of you, who happened to be somewhat crazy and got the idea she could compete and won miss puerto rico petite (true story) guess what, I never thought about dating her until she won the competition!! So before you start WW3 like someone said, think about it… why are you spending so much time over this bullshit! (I’m just fucking bored to be honest and had nothing better to do in this depressing night!), and by the way, talking about WW3 and recalling some major A-hole who made the statement that the US protects PR… yes, by paper you are correct, but if you think about it, who the well goes to war with some layback, beautiful paradise like Puerto Rico, no one!! (well, maybe one or another pirate looking for rum!), but yeah, every time the US wants to bomb another country, a lot of puerto ricans have to go and fight for the US (including the stupid ones like the vietnam war and irak!!)… and let me see, the rest are, poor people seeking economical help (like blacks and hispanics living in the US, and sorry if I offend anyone), a lot of white trash people who just want to have a gun in their hand (I also feel sorry for them and their wife/siste), and probably only about half of the people can be considered the “true” american who loves and wants to defend his country… and yes, puerto rico is a commonwealth, and I like it! people talk about globalization and unions… well, this is as close as we can get to the US w/o loosing our identity as Puerto Ricans… and guess what, when I don’t like something I throw it away, if the US government (not necessarily the american ppl) dislike PR, then what the hell.. cut the damn string and we will just kick out all the american companies in the island sucking the juice and start a global economy (i know, it is easy to say!), but the situation is a lot different than that, and it is easy to read a book on US history or economics (recalling PODEROSO), but you have to learn how to read between the lines and try to understand what went thru ppl’s mind (yeah, fucking impossible!).. and I am not a Presidente, that’s just a joke, but I have a PhD and work for the aerospace and defense industry (yeah.. how ironic.. another puerto rican working to defend the US) … you guys have a good day and next time you think about writing something here, please, walk away and have sex with someone, that will help you appreciate the good things in life and not this piece of crap long ass essay I am fucking writing. and I don’t apologize for the grammar errors.. but some of you should, and if you think that a contestant should learn english before miss universe.. think again, because maybe you need to learn another language and keep up with the rest of the world
